"Sigh"....i wrecked it, i was on my way to the Memphis-Mississippi State game and a old Ford Explorer(about year 96) had his brake lights on when i saw this suv. I slowed down pretty hard but as i got closer and closer(i was about 100 yards away when i first saw him) and when i got closer, i realized he was stopped in the middle of the road, he didn't have his blinker on to turn into this church parking lot but the roads was way too slick from the rain we've been getting and i slammed into him. Luckily, me and my friend had our seatbelts on and that saved us. The airbags, neither passenger or driver's airbag came out...it should have considering hwo smashed up the front end is. The suv barely took damage, just the back door and the back bumper. I dunno yet of the how much damage it is and i'll be able to find out this week but, i'm not sure if the engine is messed up, the radiator was leaking badly and i knwo the fan and bumper and my clear corners and grille inserts were all smashed...i have no vehicle and won't probably have one for a good bit. My parents were not that mad at all, they said accidents happen and they were cool with it. But, the problem is, it may be totaled...looks like i'm gonna be dormant from this site for a while...i luved yall...lates.

Hey drew it may not be as bad as you think. I hit a big truck in the ass end this summer and there was about 6500.00 in damage to my truck. everything from the fan forward had to be replaced. The truck will be far from totaled but it will be in the shop a while. A good thing to do is talk to the body shop and see if after they get the estiment of damage if you can help locate used parts or even soem aftermarket goodies like a custom hood and bumper cover. You can use this to your advantage to rebuild you truck most of the aftermarket stuff costs about the same or less than the stock stuff. ie lights are like 150 each where clear corners are 45.00 you can save alot if you shop around and have a good bodyshop. Ebay have just about everything you need to rebuild the truck lights fenders bumpers grilles you name it its on there just search for dodge dakota. I rebuilt my last dakota from ebay for about half the price of getting the stuff from dodge.

Just de facts - It's a good thing you were there to fill us in on the real story, because you know there really is no such thing as an accident, and he was just being wreck-less right???
Drew ignore this guy(s) comments, things happen, I drive 32 miles one way to work and I see a lot of things that just can't be avoided, like driving behind a big van and he swerves at the last minute to avoid a car 50 ft in front of him and your stuck because another car is right next to you. all you can do is hammer on the brakes and hope no one gets hurt. Maybe you could have avoided it, but who are theses guys or most likely guy to talk trash

hey drew I have a stock bumper from my 02 QC that you could have real cheap. Since I have a custom bumper I don't really need it and you can sav quite a bit. Should only need to be repainted to match your truck comes witht he stock fog lights. Make me an offer and we'll talk.

Oh man, thanks for all the offers yall, i will sure consider it, but today, it's is on it's way to the body shop so the insurance people can look at it and etc...and see how much, i just heard the answering machine and the state farm woman wants my dad to call her so looks like they have looked at it. Thanks all for your help guys, i'll keep ya updated and keeps those offers!! You never know!! Also, DakUSA, thanks for the idea, that just might work and save me a good bit of moola. Thanks.

Hey all, i talked with my body shop and all and everything's not completely worked out yet but he gave me a list of everything and all about how much too. The price is $6,100 right now, we really don't know for sure if the engine is, in any way, damaged. I took a look at my truck for a good bit checking out the damage and looking in the hood and all. Well, just wanted to give ya and update. OH, and also, i'm gonna take the pics tomorow so i'll post the pics tomorow, hehe.

I also wrecked my truck last week. Just found out today that the insurance company wants to total it. I talked to the insurance aduster on the phone and he sounded like a real moron and had no clue what a R/T was to even begine to consider putting a value on it to determine if it was a total or not. Dam dude, what the hell did you hit, a tree stump? It cleared the grill but caught your Dak underneath the grill hard. Did you get hit from behind too? or is the rear end and back window damage caused from the same abrupt stop that damaged the front.

Was no abrupts stop. Inside tire locked up in a turn and I slide into a guard rail. Bounced off that with no damage, and threw me back across the road into some railroad ties surrounding a fire hydrant on the side of the hill. Hit the railroad ties with the front bumper(just low enough to not get into the hood). One of hte railroad ties punched a hole in my passenger side rim from the inside out. I went completly over the firehydrant and came back down on the otherside when my rear bumper hit the ties on the other side of the hydrant. The tonneau popped off the mounts during the accident and slammed into the window which caued it to shatter.

I managed to get pinstriped by a Toyota Camry, It was about $3k to fix it all and I am still fighting with the Insurance. I am on to my third adjuster now.

Hey drew here is a pic of my truck after I wrecked it. The damage was around $6500.00 plus the 500.00 I had to pay out of pocket. A guy in a Big Stake body truck stopped on a blind corner never seen it. I was lucky i was turning onto that road adn was just pulling out so I was only doing about 15mph. Worst thing about it is I had just put the new hood and bumper cover on a wek before it happened

Lol, you can add my truck to the list. It hasn't moved much in a few weeks. A few parts are still coming in before I can put it back together. I didn't do mine in on any public roads though, I took a shortcut in an autocross track and a tree jumped in my way.
Insurance: "So, you smashed your truck into a tree in a wide open parking lot on the weekend going how fast?"
Me: "Manuf. defect?"
Yeah, I am fixing this one. What an expensive lesson. So the truck is out of the races now. Too expensive is anything happens to go wrong. Now, I am thinking of a 2.5RS or 300ZX to make an auto-x only vehicle.
