Subject: 4.7 and 5.0 Dyno #'s?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am planning on going to the dyno day at NE Dyno is Ma on the 2nd. I am also going up with my buddy. I have a 2000 4.7 5-speed 3.92 with HO cams, HO intake, K&N, bored 68MM TB, gibson catback, 74k miles, all the cats, and I also relocated my IAT, what kind of power (HP & Tq) do you think I am going to put down.

My bud has a 95 mustang gt auto with a .512" lift cam GT40 heads and a K&N. what will he put down...

I guess my point is should I feel comfortable enough to start talking trash to him or should I wait to see what happens???

I'd wait and see what happens. You should have a load more torque than the 302 with it's puny 3" stroke. I'd wait and see on the horsepower side of things. Should be close though.

You'll see 220-230 hp at the wheels and 280-300 lb of tq.......

Just based on your list of mods....

You'll see plus sides of 300 on your torque...I believe the others are pretty close on your HP...

Your buddy in the stang is going to be very disappointed unless he has a good converter.
I've seen similarly equipped 5-spds turn 250's-260's with GT-40/cobra heads GT-40P's, B-E cam, and cobra intakes, with a 65MM TB, and cat-back exhausts. With the Auto I imagine he would be making at the flywheel with the above mentioned mods at 300HP. Torque slightly higher. Through the loss in his tranny around 230-240RWHP and about the same in torque????

We'll see.... post your runs when you get back.

Good Luck.

I think he will be disappointed too. He still has the factory intake, TB, headers, cats, etc. All he has done to the engine so far is the heads and camshaft... I jsut want to be clost to what he does if not beat him... he hates how much power I make and how quick (overall) my truck is compared to his muscle car....

No problem...

Nuff said.

He'll probably lay down somewhere between 210-220RWHP.....

Sad... And you don't weigh that much more than him either.

He's going to want to trade the Stang in for a new Dakota.

It doesn't take much money though to put a 5.0 over the 300HP mark. But... First thing he needs to do, is get rid of the sucky AOD. 5-spd swaps aren't that complicated in the 5.0's.

His current state he probably runs low 15's high 14's. swap the tranny for a 5-spd, through some 3:73 gears in, shorty headers, 65MM TB, pullies, MAF, off-road H-pipe and cat-back of choice, and he's clickin low to mid 13's on good street tires.

5-speeds are MUCH more plentiful as well, but he needs the auto. I told him convertor and gears will make a huge difference.. But $$ seems to be the factor (isn't it always)...

Thats on the 6-cylinder.

Roush's uppgradeable stage2 and base stage 3 can be had with 450+ flywheel HP. Of course you'll be spending major duckies on those.

The 6-cylinder Roush's performance sucks, but they use those to professionally train people in the autocross circuit.(Kenny Brown)

The 96-98 un"charged" Saleens were a joke too. 225HP just didn't cut the cheese.
