After buying my 3 inch blocks. I get the wheels off, the leafs seperated, she shocks unbolted and the blocks on. Then I come to find that the U-bolts arn't wide enough at the top. They do not fit over the axle. Home depot doens't carry U bolts. Autozone is gay, and 4 wheels parts want's 80 bucks to buy a kit that includes blocks. Has anyone experienced this, or have any ideas as to what I can do? I was thinking of buying 4 long bolts and finding a piece to put over the top axle and bolt it down like that. But, I wasn't sure how safe this was.

Yes I did and heres what I did.

I took the 3" U's and drove them on the axle housing to spread them out. It made the wide at the trhreaded end. I put them in a vise with the top of the U sticking out about 3"'s and clamped it tight. I took a 5# mall and hit the top of the U and bent the threaded end in till it matched the plates and then bolted them in.

chris...
sure, as alot of us kota owners had the same problem...
as a last resort (and was the smartest), i contacted my local truck outfitter....one that does flat beds, cargo boxes etc., they was more then glad to bend up the proper U bolts I needed for about 20 washingtons (lock bolts and all), get out the phone book, and find one in your area

Keep in mind that u-bolts for your axles are made from grade #8 steel and NOT grade #5.

Also make sure that you use ALL STEEL locknuts and not the nylon/steel locknuts.

Or a local spring/suspension shop can make up U-bolts for you. Don't do the '4 long bolt' deal- it is unsafe.
