Ok, i have a 4.7l V8 with just an Intake. Last night i was driving home from my buddys house at about 10:30 at night. I approach a red light with a Lonely Integra GSR. As i came to a stop, i heard him rev his engine, ok well i didnt hear his engine, it was actually his Exhaust, but anyway, im sittng there thinking to myself.. "ok ok, i have driven many GSRs, GSR Turbos, and one LS Turbo Integra and all are pretty quick"... I didnt hear a BOV so i Knew his wasnt turbo. So im thinking to myself, "easy kill, whynot just do it"... The light turns green and i baby the throttle (to prevent me from spinning my tires a 1/8th way down the road) and when i hit between 15 and 20 i give it about 3/4 throttle, chirp the wheels a little bit and EASILY pull away from his sorry ass with no sweat, I look in my side view mirror and even though i knew it wasnt turbo, i looked for a FMIC just incase. Then i noticed him slowly walking up on me, so i give it full throttle when he gets half way up my bed and start climbing away from him again, i heard him shift and then start to walk right back up with me again, being that i was floored i had nothing else to do... and after that, i watched him drive away a car lengths ahead of me and the KCUFhead put on his flashers. Well i HAD him for MOST of the race until Topend came into Play. I just wanted to know what mods i could do for top end???... not saying im GOING to do the mods, but i just wanted to know out of curiosity. Oh and by the way, Even though i lost to a basically stock Manual GSR (i Think), I did pretty good for a Auto Club Cab 4X4 that weighs more than 4500 pounds.. hehe!!

Get the HO cams and intake. Thats a pretty cheap and very worth while mod.

Mike, i was thinking about swapping over to HO Cams anyways. Just b/c of all the performance stories i have heard. But are they any good for Top End??... I dont need top end b/c i 4X4, but just out of curiosity.

D... dont have 33s yet. Those are my next mod with the body lift. I do have 3.55 gears and was thinking about swapping over to 3.92s.... any idea how much these gears cost for my truck??

Yates, I have been thinking about buying anothe Dakota for a beater. Matter of fact, i saw a Chameleon Paint JOb R/T today for sale for 13k OBO. Just might have to talk to this guy... lol.. j/j... i dont have 13k to blow. But in reality, i was thinking about buying a 95-97 dak in a V6 Reg Cab 2X4 Manual for a Beater and try to make that quick!!... hmmm

3.92's or 4.10's are the same price, about
$200. www.truckperformance.com I got my
richmonds from them, havent installed them
yet, but they seemed like a decent price. dont
waste your money on a V6 beater, save
money for a KB supercharger, great for low
end torque...there is one 4X4 4.7 owner with
one on this site.

I raced a V-tech something... Some sort of rice, not sure if it was a civic or what. Deffinatly a civic looking vehicle but anyway I raced the guy starting at around 90 mph he started droppings back right away but not nearly as much as I had thought. Im running a shaker and a PCM. PCM did its job because I had never really had it up passed 115. (of course I couldnt get any higher than that with the stock chip)

It was humerous though, he was still pissed. I'm not sure how fast I was going I let off about 2 seconds after it hit 120 mph. He was still sh-tty though must have been because he was beaten by a pickup truck and expected to lose to something alittle lighter.

Any suggestions for R/T top end? (minus the chip and an air intake)

REKER: What year is your truck, I have the same setup in a 2002, 4x4 4.7 3.55open auto club cab, I have the tire an handle package, plus the tow group. I have never really chirped the tires, I car fry them going around corners, but my truck really hooks up off the line. I think if you had been a full throttle by 20 mph, you wouldn't have been beat. I have done the same thing like you and let off after pulling a big lead, and then the other person keeps pushing it and catches me. I found it hard to get the truck going again ahead of them, but I haven't lost yet. The cams are good for every thing, and the intake helps with topend, with its shorter intake runners, you could try that and open up your exhust a little, like a higher flow cat, or a more open muffler.

You should have let off as soon as you noticed him creeping back up. Then if him or anyone else said something you just say I let off, I already wasted him :D Oh, try taking off in 4H until just after the shift to 2nd gear then pop in back in 2H. You can punch it right away with no tire spin. Makes a huge difference. Still though, I used to annhialate similar cars on a regular basis and people were mildly impressed saying well you have a v-8... till i drove one friend to the dump and rode across the scales... 5700lbs with one passenger :(

BIGTYMER,

What kind of Dakota do you drive? There's not one Dakota on Earth that weighs that much, unless you've got sand in your bed or you and your buddy weigh 500 lbs a piece.

Kota how about stroking it out to 408 instead of a blower? Would that suffice somewhat?
