I was wanting get the Autolite 3923s Are these the best plugs for the 318 5.2l V8? I hear that the colder heat range they have makes it harder to start in cold weather, and plus winter is coming up, so should i get the stock replacement champion plugs? I want better gas milage, and performance, if possible.

Man oh man....i was so close to getting my Autolights in my Dakota today....the unluckiest thing had to happen, my hood latch disappeared. Apparently, my dad had to borrow my truck since his suv was in the shop and he took it to get gas at the co-op and had them check the oil too....well, you can figure out the rest what happened. Any suggestions for where i can get a latch??? I managed to open my hood through my grille with a very small tool so all i need is to get another latch. Does Grill-Tech sell them seperately???

why does D/C put champions in if autodarks are the best? I guess young boys with a public school drop out education know more then the engineers at D/C eh!

People always ask my plug recommendations. I must say that I like the NGK V-Power Plugs, the Champion Premium Fine-Wire Gold plugs, and the Nippondenso U-Groove plugs for domestics. In the Imports, the Bosch or NGK Platinum plugs usually work best. I have been testing the AC RapidFire plugs currently and I must say I am impressed by the results. Plugs that are useless to me are the Split-Fire plugs (poor materials -- actually an Autolite plug with the "V" tip), and of course the Autolite plug itself. I have seen the most failures and poor performance out of these plugs. This is not a bash session, so those of you that love your Split-Fires or Autolites, I'll wait for you at the finish line ...

I have also used the acrapidfires and they work fairly well. The autolites were a power loss for me.
Currently I am using the Champion truck plug for a 4.0 Jeep (I think, I could get the # if interested). By far the best plug to date next was the Rapidfire then stock plug.

I got the "ticking" sounds and a loss of power after 10000+ miles with the Autolite 3923s
in my V6 3.9 and also in wife's V8 5.2.

I switched back to Champions - better power response

I sure do like my Denso Iridiums!!!

They are pretty sweet. Expensive, but worth it... at least for now. Smoother Idle, quicker start, pulls through higher rpm much better.

Now we will see what happens after 5000 miles when the 5224's seemed to lose some umph.

You guys who like Champion Plugs must be from the Democratic left. "Don't" confuse me with the facts because I already have my mind made up! CHAMPION SUCKS, plane and simple. repeat after me, CHAMPION SUCKS! Dodge gets the price they want for those plugs, they could care less about quality. I pulled the so called Champions out of my 2000 Durango at 25,000 miles, and the electrode was worn down 50%! I could not beleive this, I have never seen plug failure in all my years to that extent of erosion. I have never seen a Autolite Plug fail at that level, NEVER! from the 70 Camaro 350 that burned a quart a week, to the 89 Mustang 5.0 with 325 rear wheel horse. The Stang burns alot of oil but it has 150,000 on it. The one thing that is for sure is that Platinum tip plugs resist oil fouling at a much better rate then regular plugs. By whay you want, Champion will never get a dollar from my wallet.
