Yesterday, my "brake" and "ABS" lights in my information window lit up (2001 4.7) after doing a light "power-brake". I reset the PCM (disconnected the NEG cable/held key @ "start" for 30 seconds). After restarting, the motor would not idle. Being 50+ miles from home, I drove it gingerly and noticed that the lights came on again, AND now my cruise control stopped working ("cruise" light comes on, but speed will not set). By the time I got home, the motor will now idle, but there's a huge hesitation @ acceleration. I don't see a fuse for the CC, so that's not it.

These lights have come on before, after a "power-brake", and the reset would take care of the lights, but now it seems to have caused more problems.

Any ideas?

I'd say take it in.

Any time that I give my truck a jump start It will not idle. I have to give it gas to keep it going. After the battery charges I just reset the pcm once and it will idle fine after that. You should try resetting it again and that will hopefully fix somethings. Probly not the abs though. Cant help there.

I had the same thing, except that the cuse worked, and it was a fuse under the hood, look at all the Brake and ABS fuses and see if ther good, the brake system also suplise power to the ABS so it if goes then the other goes. Second most likely it is the Speed Senroe in the rear Diff. about a 40 buck part, and hour of work. If you have a dakota manual you can find out by the wiring charts that that senros tells the ABS computer if the axel is still movie and by a volt read out. If you have the hole rear end off the gound you can test and see if it is still giving a read out and cheak that way if it is good.
But that is all i know. Cheack those 2 things.

First. If you have 4 wheel ABS you will get a ABS Light everytime you power brake.

Because you have wheel speed sensors that look at each wheel. Or in some cases 3 sensors. If one or two sensors see excessive wheel speed it will trigger the ABS Light.

Second. Correcting the light is just a matter of pulling the ABS Computer Fuse and waiting 3 to 5 min and putting it back in. BUT! If the problem is still there it will come back on.

Third. The reason your truck did all that weird stuff is because you wiped everything clean except the basic program. So now both the ABS & the Main Computer is in "Learn Mode" So it is figuring out your Driving habits all over again.

Still under Warrenty take it back to the Dealer!

Yeah, that's when you stand on the brake and gas at the same time. You just sit there spinning your tires. Doesn't sound like a good thing to do with ABS.

OK.

The issues seem to have taken care of themselves. The lights on the dash must've been from the "power braking", and they no longer come on. The CC and the idle seem to have been solved by merely driving for a while after the reset.

Panic averted.

Thanks, ALL, for the wisdom!
