Just test drove a 2003 4.7 4x4 CC 3.92 LSD. Only thing is that its the only one on the lot with the 3.92 and LSD and it has a lot of other options that i don't need or want. The dealer tried to tell me that I didn't need a lsd if its a 4wd at which point I just left cause i didn't feel like explaining it to the moron. So my question is has anyone used carsdirect.com, invoicedealers.com or anything like that? I like their prices and that fact that i don't have to go to a dealership. Any input would be appreciated.

I tried a few of them in August looking for my Dakota Quad Cab, but didn't have great luck with them since they didn't have particpating dealers in my little corner of the Texas Gulf Coast.

So, I used Dodge's Internet Get a Quote engine http://www.dodge.com/gaq/index.html I sent out requests to about 8 Dodge Dealer's within 150 miles of my house asking for a quote for just the 2002 QC that I wanted. I got back timely responses from all of them except the local dealer that I was already working with.

I got a great quote from a dealer 35 miles away on a Sport QC that was almost the truck that I wanted, except it had the 15" wheels and I wanted 16" wheels. Thier quote was about $700 below invoice (they really wanted to dump that truck). So, I took that quote into my local dealer and he matched it on exactly the SLT Plus with 16" wheels that I was looking for. They came down $850 based on my Internet quote and I got my 2002 truck way below invoice price.

Go ahead and give carsdirect, stoneage, etc. a try; maybe they'll have particpating dealers in your area. But I would also use the Dodge Direct quote engine to hit all of the dealers within a resaonble driving distance.

Spunky, I used www.autobytel.com to buy my truck. I got a $27000. listed truck for $21000! You tell autobytel what you want and they have dealers they contact who inturn gives you a quote. It was the easiest car buying experience that I've ever had.

I ordered my truck to get what I wanted. It only took 4 weeks for Dodge to build and ship it to my local dealer. I paid $100 over invoice, but that's a darn good deal for a custom truck and not something just sitting on the lot they want to get rid off.

Check out www.carbuyingtips.com it's a long read but well worth it.

Ya Carbuyingtips.com is where I got the idea, great website. The dealer told me 8-10 weeks for a 2003. I think I am going to just get quotes from each of the internet dealers and take the best one.

I also custom ordered mine. I went into the dealer laid down my personal specification sheet and said that's what I want. I'm in Germany so it took more than 4 weeks, actually about 80 days.
I paid $1,500 ubder sticker price with listed discounts and got my 2002 Sport+ with all options and shipping to Germany for $21,523.

. Here you can see every thing I got for that price.

I used Carsdirect.com with great results. It took them 2 days to find exactly what I was looking for. I took the printed out price sheet to my local dealer and asked if they would be willing to just match the price and they said no. I had to drive from San Diego up to L.A. to a Dodge dealer there to pick up my 02 QC but it was a total breeze. The best part? I knew to the penny what the price was before I ever left the house. I pulled up to the dealer, my baby was waiting right in front ready to go. Did a thorough inspecting and test drive, signed a few papers, and I was out of there. A great price with ZERO hassle.

Sounds great, planning on doing this at the end of the month. I love the fact that there are no surprizes or haggeling just a straight price.

I used autobytel.com to buy mine too. Saved about $5k based on what my local dealer would've sold it to me for. Can't complain!
