Hey, just wanted to see what everyones "Cleaning" Schedule is and to see which cleaners, waxes, tricks etc etc that you have learned over the years. And which products u have found work the best.

mine:
Meguiars EVERYTHING
Meguiars Car Wash
Cleaner Wax
Polish Wax
Carnuba Wax
Scratch X
EXTRA Multi-Purpose Cleaner
Armor All Wipes
soon: Endurance Tire Shine (heard to be the best) and Meguiars Trim Shine (said it removes the over lap when u wax)
In-between washes, i touch up with Meguiars Quick Detail and a MicroFiber Cloth.

I havent YET found a good Window Cleaner. When i used to work for Avis Car Rental, we had some REALLY good stuff. But they dont sell it in stores. Which window cleaners do yall use??

I also want to find a good Bug/Tar remover. Probly going to end up buying the Meguiars Bug/Tar remover. What do yall use??

For things like the dash and tires i use black magic tire wet. Last really long and gives it a great shine. For the windows i use windex streak free shine with papter towels, no lint or pieces of towel left when im done and it works awesome for me. For washing and waxing i like the carnuba products, been using them for years with great results.

The best glass cleaner money can buy is GM Glass Cleaner in Aerosol Can! I have tried most of the wax's and the two I like best are Zymol and Nu-Finish for wax/paint protection. Tire car Westleys tire bleach and Eagle Tire Wet. I like Armor All low gloss, 303, and 3M vinyl creme for interiors. I use an acid brush for brushing carpet. The tire wet can be used on all trim it is just silicone. Gasoline on a rag will get road tar off and is not hard on paint.

I agree with Sandman.. GM is by far the best!

All I can say from a detailers point of view: "Stay away from Armor All!" (Atleast on vinyl).
I works really good at looking good.. but it dries out everything it touches and it seems to attract dust after it's been applied. But I will give that it brings everything to a wonderful shine, But don't use it on tires. The sun makes it bleed, then your tires look bad! I found eagle tire gel to work really well, and for vinyl... GM vinyl cleaner works great!

~This is only my opinion~

Anything in a "wipe" like Armor-all products(vinyl protectant, cleaner and window cleaner) sux IMO, if you use it anymore than a few passes it starts to fall apart and leaves pieces/chunks everywhere of the material it is made out of. The product that saturates these tissues aren't worth a dam either and most of it ends up all over your hands. I am all for convenience and gave other "wipe" brands several tries before I was convinced that this is not at a convenience product and cost much more than if you used your own rags. The joker who initially designed and sold this idea is probably sitting on his 50ft yacht with hired detailers that use good-old fashioned rags to keep his boats and cars like new and laugh at him behind his back when he donates them a family pack of his amazing product to use for their business.

A: SPLAT! bug and tar remover just plain rocks for getting off tree sap, bugs and tar with little effort. You can't miss it on the shelf with its flourescent green bottle and big writing that says SPLAT! on the front of it, lol.

b: 3M and Mequiars for all my paint detailing/repairing needs and 303 for everything that is rubber, vinyl or plastic although Mequiars Trim Shine works well for removing the wax residue from trim but doesn't last as long IMO compared to 303 which holds up even after several washings. I use Castle aerosol glass cleaner, safe for tinted windows and doesn't streak all to hell unless you use it when it is cold out.

C: For interior stains, I use Acra-Solv. Works great to remove light to medium stains, grease, oil, gum, etc. Just need to follow it up with a damp cloth to pull out the chemical when your done or do I like I do and soak it down with a spray bottle of water and use a shop vac or Shampooer. For leather I use Eagle One Products, their cleaner/conditioner has worked great for me and is reasonably priced compared to some of the other name brands that can cost two times as much.

Check out this site they have all kinds of products and IMO work very well, esp. the glass cleaner and the spray shine I use it on my tires and when they get wet the water beads up and rolls off, works good on wheels to prevent brake dust from building up.

I buy allot of stuff from them. The Surbuff buffing pads are the best I have ever seen and used. Use them with the Porter Cable polisher for a show car finish.

Vinylex and 303 are the best. DO NOT USE ARMOR ALL. It will prematurely dry out rubber, vinyl and plactic.

PREP FOR: Fender wells and under carriage, EASY OFF Oven Cleaner, Sprayed directly on wait 3 minutes and rinse with pressure washer or garden hose, staying away from aluminum. (Do not get this on your skin, it's heavy with Lye and will blister your skin)

FINISH FOR: Fender wells and under carriage, Son of a Gun in the aerosol cans, (useless for any thing else) Spray it on let it dry, underside of fender wells, frame, rear end housing, shocks, gas tank, springs, spare tire, front A frames and bushings, brake lines, sway bars, every thing underneath, all the stuff the average Joe forgets.

Road Grime: on sides of truck, Diesel Fuel, also removes most highway paint, Wash with good auto wash and re-wax.

Under Hood: good pressure wash regularly, then soak every thing underneath the hood with Armor All. (This is the only place it is any good) Wiping up the big puddles as they develop. ARMORALL has silicon’s in it that stops rubber from getting hard and will keep all the rubber hoses and lines under the hood soft as long as you own the vehicle.

Last truck I owned and shipped over to Germany the Inspector asked if the truck had ever driven thru a mud hole or in the rain. It was 4 1/2 years old and had 55,000 miles on it. It had no underbody rust, or dirt anywhere. All the under side parts still had the factory black color or the kind of brass color some parts have.

Westley's Bleach White is great for removing dirt from tires (especially if it has any raised white lettering). But I use 303 Aerospace Protectant for ALL rubber, plastic and vinyl (AWESOME for soft tonneaus). Zaino for the body. Best bug and tar remover I've found is turtle wax. works great and doesn't harm clearcoat or leave blem marks. removes the most stubborn pieces of tar and bugjuice.

I just bought the Mothers Clay Bar Kit and I hope to use it this weekend. I'd have bought the Zaino products, but I wanted it NOW instead of waiting for the mail to get the check there and the products here. I'll eventually give Zaino a try.

This afternoon I went out to my truck to discover that someone got careless with their door and left a couple half-inch hair line scratches on my driver's side front fender. They're deep. I had some 3M buffing compound in my truck, so I worked on it a little over my lunch hour, but unfornately the deep scratches remain. Is there anything someone can recommend to use on them? A colored wax perhaps? I believe the scratches are through the clearcoat and into the paint. Doesn't look like it went to the metal.

the absolute best glass cleaner ive found is EAGLE ONE 20/20, use it on all my wind'rs, and even on my wheels for quick touch ups, u know, for when ur truck is decently clean, but ur wheels have brake dust biuld up on them..? everything i use is either eagle one, or meguiars, and i use dura gloss shine for the dash and door panels. i found that turtle wax tire wax, is good tire shine, and to get in all the grooves of our beloved knobby tires, srapy eagle one wet tire shine inthem, and itll do good, it slings if u dont let it dry long 'nuff thouhg, but thats one reason to keep a soft towel and meguiars quick wax in hand, to clean those big fender flarse some of us have, ne way, i own a very small detailing business, called SHININ' LIKE A DIAMOND® CAR WASH, ttyl.....

If you get one of those tire brushes with Westley's Bleche White you won't need tire wet, they won't shine but they'll look brand new. I've got some tires with like 40K on them and they look awesome. Each time you wash your truck just spray them down before you fill your bucket or whatever, give them like 1-2 minutes and spray off, don't let it dry. It can hurt your wheels. But you can watch the crap come off. Awesome. I must suck at windows. I always get streaks.

I HAVE BEEN DETAILING CARS FOR OVER 15 YEARS,AND HAVE NATIONAL CAR SHOW JUDGING EXPERIENCE.
THIS IS WHAT I USE:
1.a window cleaner without ammonia if using on tinted windows.
2.always clean your tires before using a shine product.the cleaner the rubber the better the outcome.i use 50/50 simple green.biodegradeable.
i have tried every tire shine there is.turtle wax tire wax,in a box.comes with applicator.
3.always put shine on with a damp sponge.who wants a mess on your wheels?
4.siple green for the fenderwells.i always use a old bug scrubber pad to get them good.
5.a car wash that will not strip your wax.i like zymol or meguires.
6.always wash top to bottom.do the tires and fenderwells last.use the left over soap and water in a different bucket for the tires.never use the same wash mit for the body, that you use on the tires and fenderwells.
7.always clean around the door, tailgate, and hood.
8.don't use a synthetic sponge.
9.i like to just clean the interior with water/towel.i do not put anything on my dash.
i use a spray cleaner conditioner on leather.
blue coral dry clean carpet cleaner.
10.use a little fine bristle brush on the vents and stereo etc.
11.frebreeze sprayed to freshen it up.
12.do not wax in circles,it makes swirls.
always wax in the shade/garage,with the surface of the truck cool.meguirs/zymol/mothers are great waxes and polishes.
i use mothers polish on my billet wheels.
13.3m adhesive remover is good for tough bugs and tar/gum.will not hurt your finish.
14.meguirs detail spray for a dusty truck.do not use if the metal is hot.then use water/in a old spray bottle!if you do not have good wax on it the detailer spray will smear.
15.100% cotton clothes for polishing
16.sponge type chamois for water removal
17.sometimes i use my leaf blower to get alll the water out from spots i can't reach,it cuts down on drying time.

remember, the amount of effort put in to your vehicle is what the outcome will be.anything used to speed up the process will result in a badly detailed truck.hope this helps a little.
