I know it's not a Dakota, but it is a Dodge. Can anyone tell me how to remove the front shocks on a 96 1500 4x4? Does it require removing the coil, and does this require any special tools, i.e. spring compressor, etc.? Any tips or ideas would be helpful.

You might try over at www.dodgetruckworld.com. There is a healthy group of Ram owners that would be more than willing to answer your question.
