I am a mechanic by no means, but I was wondering if it takes tons of mech skills to swap the stock roller rockers? I read in another post that they are awsome, is this true? What honest gains and benefits should I expect?

The 1.7:1 have shown an average gain of 20-24HP at the rear wheels (on V8's). Not sure about the V6's but the gains should be right about 15-20HP extra at the rear wheels as well. It doesn't take skill to install them...but the adjustment does take some "feel" for them. (You can do them without any experience as long as you triple check yourself along the way. Even the "seasoned" mechanics had to learn how to install "stuff" in their time...and they're made istakes as well.

I want to install the 1.7 rockers in my 5.2, and I heard that if I take out the baffles on the stock valve cover i can still use them. if this is true, how do I remove them? also where is the cheapest that anyone has seen the crower 1.7's?

You'd be better off with the Mopar valve covers and the Moroso breather baffles installed. More clearance and you don't ruin your factory covers...in case you ever want to sell the vehicle or trade it in.

They're in the instructions with the kit...it depends on which kit you get though.

if you go to the crower site they have an instruction sheet that you can print off. I think it is under the faq page. Fairly decent instructions for it. Definitely get the mopar valve covers.
