Subject: Strange roaring sound when first startin
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought a 2002 Quad cab with the 4.7 auto. Sometimes when I start the truck and then start to drive it seems like its in ultra low gear or something. The truck has no power nad the engine roars. After a few hundred yards it seems to shift or somehting and everything is normal again. It does this randomly regardless of temp, humidity, etc. Any ideas

It's easy, mine's been gone since the 3rd month on a 01 QC. It should still have some power though. I've got a 5spd. Could be that !@#$%auto!

I wasn't really comfortable giving it alot of gas with that roaring going on:) So the power is proably there if I just step on it. After reading your reply, I had a look under the hood. What the heck! Two fans?? Surely one electric fan should be enough. I mean com one... I traded my Mustang GT in on the Dak, it had the 4.6 litre V-8 and it only needed the one electric fan!

when you remove the fan, it's a good idea to put in a 180 t-stat. Of course if you live in Alaska don't worry about the t-stat.
