I recently replaced my spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor to get back some lost performance from my 93 4x4 Dakota w/318. I would like to know how long I can expect the stock coil to last? What would changing to a performance coil do for me on the performance side? Do they make one that will replace the stock one and use the existing bracket?

Accel Super Coil p/n 140021 is a direct replacement. Cost 49.98 with tax and shipping from Jegs.com and was delivered within 3 days. This is a 42,000 volt coil, don't know what OEM rated as but 42k is a lot.
Just scrape off the made in China sticker before you put it on.
