do you have any kinda aftermarket stereo pieces (i.e. cd player, amp, speakers)?

i have had that problem with my previous vehicles... the noise was coming from the speakers because of a ground wire. They make (crutchfeld sells them) filters to filter out the noises.

how is it hooked up? did you splice the wires or just hook up to the factory harness? did you have to ground the cd player itself?

I used the factory harness. I believe the ground cable also hooked up to the factory harness.

hmmmm...... i would bet its the cd player doing it. does the noise kinda "accelerate" as the vehicle accelerates?

probably

check out www.crutchfeld.com. they make something that filters out engine noises. i forgot what its called or how much it cost.

Could it just be the transmission whine? Some automatics, particularly larger ones, make a whining noise consistent with acceleration. As far as I know it is normal, and more apparent in fords, (a friend of mine has a ranger that has whined like that since the day it rolled of the lot). My truck has a tranny whine in first gear (automatic), and it goes away in higher gears with no evidence of transmission problems and nice pink fluid. Just a thought.

Hey, i have an Alpine head unit and speakers do not whine...lol, unless it's on the CD. Its prob your engine in some sort(not my specialty) but, if you want, you can get the Dynomat which i believe intensedak was talking about.

check the ground strap on that Alpine head unit and make sure that it's not more than a foot long. Sometimes if they are kinda long they pickup noise from the ignition system.
