I am considering a remote start unit for my 02 Quad Cab. I would like one to use to start the truck and get it cooled inside before I get in from a store, etc. I have the remote keyless entry and key fob.
Has anyone purchased one of these for their truck..?

I have a Bulldog remote starter and it installed fairly easily. The only thing that I had to do extra was get an additional relay for my locks since they are reverse polarity. Other than that I have had no problems at all. I even ran the extended range antennae to my radio antennae for maximum range. Give yourself about an hour or so and you will have no problems.

Mine touches the AC lines also. I can still take a pic if you like, but my guess is that mine is touching just like yours.

Thanks KC and Howdy for the info on the remote start.
On the 360 intake mine was almost touching so I insulated the lines with some insulating tape made for A/C lines. You can get it at any A/C shop. They gave it to me for free.

You have to use the Bulldog remote, however this does replace your factory remote. It isn't a bad remote, but you need it because it has the start and stop buttons along with the lock/unlock button. Plus one nice thing about the Bulldog remote is that it has a slide cover to help prevent unwanted starts.

Anyone know where I can find a remote starter kit for a manual tranmission? I don't have an alarm or power windows/doors. (If that matters)

As far as I know, only a couple of big manufacturers have remote start capability for manuals. Alpine and Clifford. But this was a while back. About a year or so ago.

I ordered the RS102E from ShoppingMatrix (http://store.yahoo.com/shoppingmatrix3/bldrs102e.html). I think they offer it for about $53. An excellent deal if you ask me. This is the extended range starter. Depending on the sourrounding area, I can start mine up to about an 1/8th of a mile away or more. I can also start it from my 3rd story office with my truck at the back of the lot.
