It's obvious that you don't own one. Or you don't get attached to a truck.

He's entitled to his opinion.

I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for..... and if you don't then you didn't research it enough. For the money spent I am perfectly - 100% satisfied with my purchase. It's not perfect, but it's way better than any of the homes, appliances or other modern products I have purchased recently. Generally the more stuff you buy - the less you expect from "new" things.

The Dodge Dakota is like a HARLEY, Lots of aftermarket parts available, So many thing you CAN do with it and will last for 30 or more years if well taken care of.

The TOYOTA TUNDRA is like any Japanese vehicle, Very few aftermarket parts available, it will give you about ten years of good service and then everything quits working and the parts to fix it are OBSOLETE and or VERY EXPENSIVE.

Well, The Dakota is not over rated. The proud owners on this board do over rate it but that is normal. Truck owner tend to be the most brand loyal market for each manufacture. I think that if you look at all the different auto magazines you can get a better idea about any vechiles build quality and durability then you would from a site like this one. I would not expect to see people volunteering to be critical of the vechile they are still paying on. I must say that in spite of my posts I realy like my Dakota but I am also experinced enough to know that it is not the best built vechile on the planet!!! It is definately alot of truck for the money but DC has failed to execute it well. Their are too many people with bad brakes, bad paint, bad ball joints, craked evap lines.........I have had to have my 2001 Dak to my Dodge dealership 6 times in just more then a year for warranty work!!! From 1971-2002 my family has had it's Toyotas to the Dealership a total of 2 times. This is what I expect from all of my vechiles!!!!!! I wounder if that $4000.00 I saved buying my Dodge compared to a Toyota is going to bite me in the rear!

The dealership has had to finish assembeling my vechile. So far they have had to replace evap componets and SLT++ content. They have had to reflash booth controller ECM/PCM. The brakes warped at 15,000 miles of easy use. They have had to finish tightening alot of componets that were loose from the factory. I need to get a estimate to get my truck painted in all the areas that DC missed.Something is not right with theis trucks front end. It gets out of alinment every 5000 miles. I do not hit any pot holes. I drive the truck 80 miles of HWY driveing 1-2 times a week and the rest of the time my wife drives it to take kids to the Docter or store. Our roads are pretty good were I live. I have to admit my wife has taken it in a time or too so I do not know what was serviced I know it was emission related. I have not done any modifications to this truck at all. I follow the service schedule to the letter or sooner.

Man, what a crock! So much for "Zero Defects"!

We spent over an hour driving, inspecting, banging on trim panels, etc... looking for the slightest of defects. This was the second one after we found a nasty ding on the driver's door of the first one we went through the same routine on. All in all, I think we got a good one. I'm about to turn 5K and the only problem is the little clunk while making a hard left.

I hope for their sake it's not the ball joints, although I've seen a lot of posts regarding early failures. Saw the TSB that was posted on adjusting the steering column, I might do that one myself and if it works I'll save a trip to the dealer.

He probably bought a 4-banger. Just because the salesman tells you it's a V-8 doesn't always make it so. You should always look under the hood to make sure.
