 Subject: check engine light

My check engine light has come on twice since owning it. It came on at about 2000 miles and now at 3000 miles. I just pull the computer plugs and it resets the computer and it goes out. I was wondering if the thermostat, 3923 plugs or the homebrew intake has any part of it. Is there a way to check codes? The reason I am asking is I just ordered a mbrp dual exhaust setup, will any of these items give me problems if I take it to the dealer? Will they tell me that it voided the warranty? Its a 02 QC,4.7,4x4,slt+
