I bit the amsoil bullet and ordered amsoil fluids all around this past thursday for my 01 4x4 4.7 5speed dak with the same running gear as yours,I was hoping it would have got here this weekend but no such luck, will have to do it next weekend. I ordered the sereies 2000 75-90 for the front and rear diffs ,the HDD 5-30 for the tranny,ATF for the transfer case,10-30 for the engine and 2 SDF-42 oil filters.Even tho you dont need gaskets for the diffs I got a gasket for the 9 1/4 and a roll of gasket material so I can make one for the front diff as I could not find one for the 205mm diff or you can use RTV sealent or the RIGHT STUFF as a gasket but I just like using a gasket with a little ultra-black RTV

I am kinda partial to the AMSOIL products because they are the company that brought so many synthetic lubricants to the automotive market in the first place and they have nearly thirty years of experiance with nothing but synthetics.
I own a business and we have tried many different brands of synthetics in our trucks and equipment and we couldn't be happier with the products that AMSOIL has provided us with.

Thanks Guys for your input.

Steven,
What's the difference between the Series 2000 75w-90 vs 75w-90??
Same for the HDD 5w-30 vs 5w-30??

I don't use my dak for towing, but I do like to drive it hard.
Also what's the service life for these fluids??

Thank in advance,
Anthony

Anthony,
Amsoil Series 2000 is latest introduction from Amsoil offering a higher level of performance vs. Amsoil's regular gear lube. They start with a different base stock with a special additives package. Amsoil could have discontinued the regular gear lube but contine to carry it due to its popularity.

HDD : stands for Heavy Duty Diesel

A lot of people ask: 75w-90 or 75w-140 ? Personally I would use the synthetic 75w-90 since synthetic 75w-90 will perform above and beyond the recommended petroleum 75w-90.

I have Freightliner customers driving Class 8 Tractor Trailor Trucks using 75w-90 synthetic gear lube in their difs. Tuff enough for them ... Tuff enough for me.

AMSOIL PRICING (current as of July 2002)
Series 2000 75w-90 $9.20 Qt. / 75w-140 $12.05 Qt. retail.(preferred customer $7.20 / $9.35 respectively). You can become a preferred customer for $20 per year ($10 for a 6 month trial) and receive up to 25% off retail pricing.

I "believe" that GM charges over $13.00 for a quart for Goodwrench Synthetic 75w-90 GL-5 gear lube.

AMSOIL products clearly offer better wear protection than competitive synthetics and much better protection than conventional oils. AMSOIL gear oils are formulated with friction modifiers for limited slip differential applications. There is no need to add limited slip or additional additives.

Since 1999, due to the special requirements of their automatic transmissions, Chrysler has recommended a unique ATF+4 formulation. In addition, Chrysler has been recommending ATF+4 for all previous makes and models of Chrysler Corporation vehicles. The new AMSOIL Synthetic ATF exceeds the performance specifications for Chrysler ATF+, +2, +3, and +4 as well as MS-7176 A, B, C, D, & E; MS-9602 A, B, & C. as well as Ford Mercon or General Motors Dexron III applications.

AMSOIL Synthetic ATF provides outstanding high and low temperature performance and oxidation stability. AMSOIL Synthetic ATF also improves fuel efficiency, reduces transmission temperatures and increases equipment life. The service life of the universal AMSOIL Synthetic ATF is up to five times the service life of conventional ATFs.

Anthony,
I recommend AMSOIL HDD 5w-30 in the NV3500 (since this is the transmission that you have)- it is the PREMIUM Amsoil 5w-30 because it is designed for heavy-duty applications.

Thanks Steve!!!

These pass 2 days Ive been doing alot of research on Amsoil and even Redline. Talked to a Amsoil dealer in my area (Toronto, Canada), but he was to far for me to conduct business. Then I searched for redline, and came across a dealer no joke 3min from my house. So today I went by to see the shop I had some free time. I find the place and it's not there, they shut down.

So I went back on the net to find a Import shop that carries Amsoil, and finally found one. So tommorrow I'm heading down there to pick-up this stuff.

My conclusion in my search was,
Series 3000 HDD 5w-30 oil $11.50(cdn)
Series 2000 75w-90 gear lube $12.95(cdn)
And a bottle of Amsoil P.I. Performance Improver Gasoline Additive. To clean the fuel system.
What's your take on this product?? Is it good??

Thank-You,
Anthony

Anthony,
First, Excellent Choices !
Second, In regards to your comment:

"So today I went by to see the shop I had some free time. I find the place and it's not there, they shut down."

This is one reason Amsoil is available "direct from the warehouse" via catalog, delivered to your front door. You never have to go looking for oil ... just to find out your local dealer has closed shop or "gone fishin'".
