Subject: OFFSET REAR ENDS ON Q/CS RIGHT REAR WHL
IP: Logged

Message:
has anyone else noticed how the right rear wheel on 2wd q/c equipped with the 4.7, and t&h pkg sticks out approx 1/4- 1/2 from inner fender well. I measured mine rather crudely with a tape measure from the inside side of the bed the outer most tread goove in the tire. this offset is very noticalble exspecailly if you don't have the fender flairs (i do have them but i can still tell).now I know mine is not unique because I have seen many others in parking lots around town with same thing and brand new ones on dealer lot. I have also had the my dealers shop foreman look into this and contact dc for a answer or reason and they simply told him theres is no problem and thats just the way it is... OKK. but what i'm curious about is why would dodge offset a rear end on this model and not across the line...I have not noticed this on reg,club,R/T or 4x4 versions or 4cyl or v6. coulD this be a 4.7 q/c special set up. ???? what u think CK YOUR REAR END.... NOTICE ALSO THAT the if u were to measure from the back of the brake drums to where the axel tube enters the pumkin the left side is longer and right side is shorts you would think if anything the left wheel would stick out! I've asked many but noone seems to have a real answer..

01 q/c sport 4.7l 2wd,auto,hd pkg, t&d,pkg lsp diff 3.55 , special ordered oct of 2000

That sounds pretty strange. Maybe they're feeding you baloney with the 'ok' and the bed is cockeyed. I'm curious too.

Measure from the edge of the frame to the inner edge of the tire on BOTH sides of the truck. If there is truly an ofset of the rim then that should show you how much and if the bed is cockeye'd then this should show you how much also.

florida dakota and yj thanks for the reply. I looked into the bed and measured it out and had a body shop ck it out its fine plus if it was crooked the line below the rear window would show it plus it wouldnot align to the sides of the cab(where the bed meets the cab) its not the bed. I REALLY DO THINK AT THIS POINT THAT DC MADE THIS WAY I JUST WANNA KNOW WHY TRUCK DRIVES,TRACKS,FINE NO PROBS WITH ALIGN MENTS OR TIREWARE EITHER... what model and drive tran do u both own? others pls list this info for comparison... thanks

Sport Dakota,

How many beers does it take you to get from the driver side to the R/R tire?
Might analize this concept also.

Sport Dak,

1.5 Hinee's, lets see 1 x 40 + (40 / 2)1 = 60.
Well that explains the offset R/R axle.

my 2000 quad cab also has this problem. mine was one of the first quads ordered and it also sits lower on drivers side by a little bit. gas tank weight probably, quads have a bigger gas tank maybe that has something to do with the offset. i have the tire and handling pachage but a 5.9 with 3:92 posi rear. ilowered mine 3/5 with r/t fender flares. still noticable at least to me.
