Subject: Billet grilles for new Dak
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm thinking about getting a billet grille on my 01' Dakota and there's a couple different variations available. I just want a once piece that fits where the factory air wings are, not a four piece that pops out too much. Does anyone have any recommendations? The grille on the blue Dakota on the home page of this site looks good, who makes that grille? Thanks for any replies

there are two types of billet grills. trens makes one that is a four piece (it sticks out a little) and stillen makes a billet grill that fits behind the stock dakota shell. It dosent stick out at all. the blue 'kota has a streetscene speed grill. the speed grill sticks out a lot, the insert sticks out almost to the edge of the shell.

thanks, the stull is definitely the one I want. Do the grilles require professional installation? Because I noticed the piece that's behind the shell looks like its hot-glued on. Do you need to cut that out? and where do you mount the billet. Thanks again

I have the trenz 4-piece grill, and it was very easy to install. Im not sure how the stull is but im sure its not that hard. as for the stock shell insert, all you have to do is pull on the insert kinda hard and it will break the plastic welds loose. This dosent hurt the insert or the shell at all. Once i wanted to put my stock insert back in, and all i did was hot glue it in with a glue gun. It worked good.
also find out if the kit comes with a hood latch relocater. they said mine would, and it didnt. Im a skinny guy, but my finger still dosent fit through the billet pieces. I have to use a screw driver to open it. But the grill looks so much better than stock, ill put up with it. Ill rig something up latter to fix the problem. good luck
