Subject: Synthetic Oil change interval
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello all. I have read all the post on synthetic oil as well as other literature. I have a 98 dakota 4X4 CC with 318. I recently started using Mobil 1 10W-30 synthetic (at 85,000 miles) with a Fram extend guard filter which they say is good for 6,800 miles between changes.

My question is this: With the above oil and filter is changing every 6,200 miles OK????? Or am I better off using reg oil and changing every 3,000 miles??? The cost is basically the same.

I drive about 450 mile per week hi way and 100 miles per week city (stop and go).

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Darren

First of all fram filters are junk. I saw it somewhere on this board and didn't believe it because I used them for years but after researching it I found fram is crap. As far as the oil I always believed in 3000 mile changes regardless of what kind of oil you use.

I use Mobil 1 0w-30 and Bosch filters and I change mine every 3,000 miles. Why risk it?
