Check this out. A boat blower that a guy is selling on ebay for $90. Wonder if this $20 part does anything?

I thought about doing this with a computer power supply fan but wondered about what the ramifications would be. This sounds too good to be true and would like to see someone spend the money on this and not damage their engines.

Here is where he got the idea. This one sounds fair for the price as opposed to $4000 for a supercharger. So I guess 20 bucks would be fair for his, but not 90 bucks.

It's BS. That is an Attwood marine engine vent motor.

http://www.attwoodmarine.com/Products/parts.asp?ProductID=433&path=ventilation&category=2>ype=2&categoryname=Ventilation+Equipment&typename=4%22+Air+Hose&headername=Ventilation+Equipment

Look familiar? I looked at one for computer cooling from an outside air sorce. Can't do much of anything if it is only producing 150cfm and a stock V8 throttle body is capable of gulping 633 cfm according to Hughes. if anything i would think it would just cause turbulance in the inlet air as well as restricting flow.

I think if it could produce more than a mere 150 cfm I think it would work, that's if you wired it in to some kind of engine tack, neither s/c's or turbos give a base cfm, they go along with engine speed. not to mention, it's not like this pos comes with a chip. if it did work wouldn't the truck run extremely lean??? I'll just spend the $4000. at least I know it'll work.

I guess if you really wanted to use it it could be hooked directly to the alternator before any voltage or current limiters it would change speed with the engine some. Meh, still wouldn't work right. I think the electric leaf blower plumbed in is a much better solution.

Redmax makes a leaf blower that puts out 700+ CFM

No doubt it could be mounted in position to be attached with a pulley - directly proportional to engine RPM. LOL, this sounds cool. Speaking of sound, does that mean we could finally get that sweet ricers sound from under our hoods? I've always wanted a truck that sounded like a lawnmower.

YES... that is BS... there is NO WAY an inline fan can provide the CFM and the PSI that is needed to create "boost".

If anyone does decide to "experimant" with one of these things... PLEASE tell us what your boost gauge is reading at 3000 RPM. I am willing BET MONEY that it will be a NEGITIVE number!! (the engine will be struggling to pull enough air thru it to breathe.)

As for the "leaf blower" idea... imagine this being driven from a belt off of the engine... you would have a Carroll supercharger.

Actually the leafblower dealy was in reference to the pic posted sometime ago of a leafblower plumbed in. As for the carroll kits, that is a company name reference, like calling all nitrous systems NOS. Looks like they are just making an affordable kit with vortech parts. Just figured i'd clarify :)

I emailed the seller posing as an interested party. Here's the response:

It is not meant to be used on V8 engines I should have made that clear. Sorry about that. As for the air flow in CFM, the blower I am selling will not stop the flow of air being taken in by the throttle body. It will simply help it by adding 145 CFM extra to it. It is not a restriction, simply a booster. Thanks

now if its just a fan and not a compressor its just gonna be a big restrictor. Superchargers and turbochargers are effective because they compress the air into tighter molecules and blah blah blah blah blah....

If it sounds to good to be true. It't not true.
And why are no reputable companies selling it?
