If you want to talk about patriotism, then don't leave out the global influence we have. How many inventions and trends are set by the USA? I am willing to bet there are many. As far as inventions go, we are still the world leaders in developement of technology. The entrepreneur spirit is more alive today in the US than it ever has been. Just look at how many home businesses are selling items on Ebay. Prime examples on here are Speedtweaks and KRCPerformance. Marty and Bernd both have had the guts to go out and grab what it means to be an American. As we patron them, their businesses will grow and hopefully allow them to create jobs.

There are too many people out there holding back technology..i.e. the unions. There isn't much need left for unskilled labor since we have machines now to do the menial tasks of yesterday. If you want to keep American products produced in America, then it's time to upgrade our work force into highly technical and skilled labor. We can automate factories with better quality control and reduce costs right here in the US. OR, we can demand unskilled factory jobs at 20+ dollars and hour for people that don't want change. Then in order for a company to stay competitive selling their products, they move the factory somewhere else in order to get cheaper labor and reduce overhead.

I know for a fact DC offers tuition assitance to their employees because my dad took advantage of it to learn how to program the line machines.

For my last word...as far as some of the crappy engineering we see in American autos... I know personally an engineer that works for a company designing auto components that can't change his own oil. I think there should be requirement in order to become an engineer to intern as a mechanic for 1 year. That would solve a lot of our problems.

...my 10 cents
