Subject: Will they EVER learn?

Message:
First off, let me tell you how much I love this site! I read it every day. And I am always reading about these little ricers trying to race us Dak owners. Well, I got my first serving of import rice this weekend. Now I'm not one to race, but the street was right and the driver pissed me off...so what's a guy to do? hehehe...

Well I was driving down this very long, straight, and wide open stretch of road this weekend. This little black Honda Civic pulled out in front of me. I had to slam on my breaks and I blew my horn at 'em. It was one of those that has about 500 stickers displaying all of the mods the supposidly had bolted on. And there were yellow accents all over...why do they do that? Yellow doesn't make you go faster...specially in those things. Don't get me wrong, yellow accents to look sweet (on the right vehicle). Oh, and he wasn't riding with his hood on. Guess he wanted to show off is chromed out squirrel-cage-of-an-engine.

He gets in the fast lane and slows down beside me to taunt me. He had to be 16. Little skinny, shirtless punk with is girlfriend on board. He starts to rev it up...eggin me on. So I wanted to defend Dak owners out there...hey it was my civic (no pun intended) duty right?

We were already at about 40...so we take off. I push it to about 75 and then applied my breaks. He was far enough in my rear-view mirror to see me back off. Well the gfriend is totally laughing in the guys face. I kinda felt sorry for him.

But we got up to the next light, he yells over "Bet you wouldn't have beaten me if I hadn't missed a shift." He should have quite and repaird what little ego he still had. I wasn't going to race him again. But then he reached out of his window and threw some trash into my bed and yelled out again..."that's all that is good for...halling trash." What's a guy to do...I gave him a chance.

So the light turns green...First time I've mashed the gas down all the way. After about a mile, someone else had passed him too! And guess what it was...a Durango...basically a Dak! I loved it. At the next light the Durango pulled up next to me, rolled down his window, shook his head side to side, and said just one thing..."Will they ever learn?"

LOVED IT!!! We need to have little war emblems for our trucks to symbolize the ricers we take out...so they know what they are up against.

That is the best idea I have heard all year! What could we do? Maybe the Honda "H" with a slash through it. Or a bowl of rice? My Dak will be all stickers in a weeks time. I'll have to put em on the undercarriage.

That would really piss me off.

I've run a couple cars like that and sometimes it's hard to hear my flowmaster because their lil muffler is so damn loud.

Yeah the same thing happens to me almost weekly. this past Saturday night I was driving back home when this guy and his buddy pulled up next to me in an older acura integra and started babbling about he works for dodge and asked how I liked the 4.7 engine. then he starts revving it and I instantly knew he had a turbo b/c off the blow-off valve. So I just eased it up to 1700 and waited. The light turned green and he was next to me until I hit 2nd and pulled away. By the time I hit triple digits he was at least 10 car lengths behind me so I backed off and when he finally caught up he gave me a thumbs up and I just shook my head and laughed and yelled over to him that next time he might want to get a real car to race not some little rice grinder.

All that's ever revved at me was a miliatry hum-vee, but no ricer that I can remember has ever done it to me. But, I go out in a POS 95 accord with a fart tip with a friend and everything with wheel tries to race it. Weird, my truck must not look very racey, maybe I need to get a stripe...

the biggest problem is that these people dont know their place in the performance food chain. i dont taunt some one that i know is going to kill me in a race, because i know my role.
you just dont feed a four cylinder rice and think you are going to beat a v-8 that has been living off of red meat.

The phrase that I display seems to bring me excitement everytime I go out in me Dak. It simply reads "I LOVE THE SMELL OF BURNT RICE!!". It seems everyone who drives an import has to try and defend their kind when they read it.

My buddys licence plate says "UD LOOZ"... and he aint kidden. Over 320HP at the FRONT wheels of his 2.2L 4-cylinder DODGE SHADOW without a drop of Nitros. (this is NOT a ricer!)

It amazes me what a turbocharger and a dashboard full of gauges can do (Boost, ExhaustGasTemp, AirFuel ratio, FuelPressure....etc)

I wish I could get that kind of power out of my 4.7L V8. Where can I get a turbocharger kit? The 4.7L should be able to produce at least 450HP

oh and its those kids that think they are fust cuz their cars "Look" like the cars on The Fast and The Furious" are the ones that piss me off, fart pipe, stickers, and wings.
If i see ANY kind of Supra i know its fast, if they have the right mods. enought money, and the TT model, look out they may have 800hp, if i had a ricer, i would put all the performance exhaust items on, NO WING, NO STICKERS, NO UGLY ASSEDD RIMS, NO FART PIPE, and make it look completely STOCK, then go out tormenting people, oh, and an NSX is fast too

im not a rice fan by any means, but SOME of them are fast, very few are actualy fast, they jsut look like the ones that are actualy fast

My other "project" car is a 1979 Trans Am with the 6.6 litre (read: 403 Oldsmobile) V-8. Other than the headers and Flowmasters, it is pretty much stock.

You'd be surprised at the number of Elcipses, Civics and Integras come up to me at a stoplight and rev up their fart-tube mufflers!

Whats up with that? Can they not read the 6.6 LITRE on the hood scoop? Do they think that its there for decoration only...like their Japanese charachters and "Type-R" (whatever the hell that means)?

My last victim was an Integra with some sort of goofy bolt on spoiler and a fart tube muffler. he did not even come close to me at all.

The guy finally turned into Starbucks parking lot after I "schooled" him miles down the road and parked across from me and I just shook my head and said "stickers and neon are no substitute for displacement, son."

...he just stared at me and the old "dinosaur" TA...like cows at a passing train!

I plan on"schooling" em with my Dakota...when I get it next month. I hope its just as fun as smokin rice in the 6.6!

Ricers are good for entertainment value...maybe.

LOL You guys are funny. Do any of you guys use your truck for hauling stuff ? I thought the riceboy page made some good points about modifying your car. It goes for any car. Including Dodge trucks. I bought the truck to haul stuff and look cool. I did beat a C5 Corvette the other day from stop light to stop light. But I don't think he knew he was in a race. Can you guys relate ?

To be honest, I like rice burners a lot. It's really amazing what people have done with those cars. I wouldn't invest the money/time in one
for myself...but I can respect it nonetheless. However, there's nothing more satisifying than leaving a 16 year/old punk and his "tricked out ride" in the dust with my stock 4.7L V8 Dak. His "tricked out ride" consisting of a loud exhaust and a lot of stickers.

That would be awesome to make some stickers (static cling stickers of course) for every ricer you bury! I like the uncle bens with an X through it or the H with an X through it. I have some skills in graphic arts and some contacts to have these things printed if you guys are really serious :)

Make a little graphic of a Ricer from the rear with a very large exhaust pipe tip and a 3' wing on it with the(\) symbol through it. I'd buy 8 or 10 the first month. I'd put them on the back glass so they would know that the next sticker on the rear glass was them. Since thats the part they would see the most of.

Autocrosser -- to answer your question...Yes I haul stuff with my truck. I pull my boat to and from the lake about once a week in the summer. And I'm not talking about a little kyak or dingie. And I'm not the real racer type. That was one of the few races that I have ever been in. It's just that that guy pushed the right buttons...and the bell rang and the gloves came off.

I love all the sticker ideas for our "war record"!!!

And I agree...I'm not stupid...I know when and where to pick my battles. While I am pleasantly suprised on how well our trucks handle for 4X4's on whindy roads, I'm not going to rip up Pike's Peak. And I'm definitly not going to line up against a Viper, Shelby, (and sadly to say) F-150 Lightening, or any other high performance automobile built for racing.

Our trucks (except for the RT's) were made for hauling...it's just a good coincidence that they hauls a$$ also! It's just interesting to see these punks thinking that that's all our trucks can do is haul. But one-by-one, if we all do our part, we can school them all.

Not a ricer, but,
the other day on the H-way, I pulled up to an older Dodge Ram, primer, and lots of stickers in the rear window. Sounded loud and you could see the custom pipes.

Rolled down my window and asked hime what it had, he replied 340, asked if it had many mods, and he smiled and nodded his head. Then he punches it and it made alot of noise. He slowed back to 60, and I eased up on him again.

We both punch it, I had dropped it down to 3rd @60mph.

Seeing this guys jaw drop as I pulled away from this loud noise maker in my shiny white over silver two tone Quad cab -priceless,
I eased off and he asks if I had a 5.9. I said nope, 4.7.
For Real. It was hwy 288 south between loop 610 and the south tollway. HOuston TX.

Autocosser, I hauled some gravel and dirt a few weekends ago with my truck and I even used a tarp. Lol, didn't hit a thing, was consiously careful about banging the shovel into the sides and tops. Still, I got a bunch of scratches. You DO need a bedliner with these things.

Most of those import cars do not have the low end oomph to do really well from light to light or even a short distance. Highway is one thing, but from light to light....hrmm.

A friend with a WRX and I were playin' around yesterday. I can take him...till he puts his foot to the floor, g'damn.

12 year old American cars?

Ok, how about the 1979 trans Am I just posted about earlier? Its older than some of the guys driving the ricers...and it has it's original engine/tranny, too.

How about my 1991 Ford Ranger? Don't laugh, it has 183K miles on the original engine/tranny and still runs great.

(the Ranger is the one I am going to sell for a Dakota in a month or so!)

Yep...dork must be right...NO American cars 12 years old on the road.

Hey, American cars that are older than 12 years old usually have one of two things:
1. Blue or black smoke billowing out the tailpipe into my vent intake.
2. Have had a decent amount of work to them (i.e., 30 year old muscle cars, fixer upper commuter.)

Ever seen a 30 year old import with nearly all original parts, not about to die, with minimal work done to it? Yep. Lots of them. Ever seen a 30 year old domestic without a ton of exhaust, about to drop, without much work done to it? Nope.

(the old black TA that just blew past your supra must be a figment of your imagination) -- Must've been.

With that, I still buy American. ;)
