On the way to work this morning my check engine light came on. I brushed it off, since the truck was running fine - figured it wouldn't be on next time. Well i went out for lunch and its still on. My dealer was no help, besides "leave it here for a few days or whatever". I'm thinking about re-setting the computer and going from there. Is it worth a shot, or should i just bring it in to be on the safe side?

Can you do the key on-off 3x thing to check the code? If so we can look it up and see what the problem is.

Key on - off slow, leave it on the 3rd time, code should appear in odometer.

Put the key in the ignition turn it to the accessory power position then off three times. Watch your digital odometer and you will see the engine codes displayed. Write them down. Then you can post the codes here for help as I did this morning. You will find out what is wrong then be able to tell the dealer exactly what you found. From there you may be able to determine wether your comfortable with resetting the PCM to continue driving it.

You guys rock - thanks for the quick response. This is what I found:

Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth P0442 Small leak detected in the evaporative purge system.

What do you think? I've been cranking the A/C since its been so hot, could that have anything to do with it (evaporative purge system)?

I found some more info (see below) - my gas cap is tight, so i'm not sure what is up. I'll probably reset the PCM and see what happens. At least I know its nothing serious. Thanks again.
