Pyrodak,
I'm on my way out, leaving the office for the day (5 PM, Friday) so I'll be brief. This is copied direct from corporate Amsoil information. If I had more time I would speak at length. I just did not want to leave you hanging.
----------------------------------------------
AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
Improves fuel efficiency, reduces transmission temperatures and increases transmission life. Provides unsurpassed thermal stability and up to five times the service life of conventional ATFs. Delivers maximum protection for towing and other severe-duty applications.

I will try to locate this post monday and give you some "non copy and paste" information.

Thanks,

Synthetic ATF Testimony:

I had my local performance transmission shop (AAA Valdosta Transmission) replace a leaking front seal on a GM 700-R4 transmission and he told me that I should go ahead and overhaul the whole transmission.
After removing and dismantling the transmission he wanted to know who rebuilt it the last time because some of the seals looked like they had not been replaced and thats when I told him that we had been using the Amsoil Synthetic Transmission fluid in it and it had never been re-built (over 150,000 miles too!)
He also looked at the reciever hitch and asked me what we towed with it and I told him a 33 foot Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer (He couldn't believe it!)
He put a overhaul kit in it and filled it full of Amsoil ATF and sent us on our way.
This truck now has over 170,000 miles on it and my Dad hopes to get at least that many more.

Another note to the above post:

Lee Overet at AAA Valdosta Transmission also noted that many of the parts inside my Dads transmission had absolutelty NO signs of wear which really surprised him.

Synthetic Transmission fluid Pro's:
1) Run about 20%-30% cooler
2) They last 1 to 2 times longer depending on application.
3)They reduce wear on all componets.
4)They increase efficency by reduecing friction/drag.

Cons:
Short Term Cost!

Pyrodak,
I put Amsoil in my 2000 QC and after a slight snafu with the filter, it's working good. Shifts fine. Put syn oil in too and the gas mileage went up.

pyrodak, I hope you have your answers and as an addition to the ongoing ATF post I would like to add the following for all Dakota owners and those of you who may own additional vehicles which are not Dodge Dakotas:

AMSOIL Synthetic ATF provides outstanding high and low temperature performance and oxidation stability. AMSOIL Synthetic ATF also improves fuel efficiency, reduces transmission temperatures and increases equipment life. The service life of the universal AMSOIL Synthetic ATF is up to five times the service life of conventional ATFs.

Since 1999, due to the special requirements of their automatic transmissions, Chrysler has recommended a unique ATF+4 formulation. In addition, Chrysler has been recommending ATF+4 for all previous makes and models of Chrysler Corporation vehicles. The new AMSOIL Synthetic ATF exceeds the performance specifications for Chrysler ATF+, +2, +3, and +4 as well as MS-7176 A, B, C, D, & E; MS-9602 A, B, & C. as well as Ford Mercon or General Motors Dexron III applications. AMSOIL Synthetic ATF is available in quarts, quart cases, twin packs, 30-gallon and 55-gallon drums.
