409 cleaner to clean dash?

I need something to clean the cealing smoke smell out of the vents, and celing. The owner before me smoked and i want to clean it up. Help ? thanks!

Soak it down with Febreeze. That stuff works great at getting out oders.

Bounce under the seats are a nice trick. Not to mention on hot days make the truck smell pretty.

As for the weirdest stuff I have used...SOS pads to clean the Aluminum rims. Won't scratch and clean quite nicely.

Okay...so it isn't really weird...just makes cleanup easier...

You can use aluminum foil if your chrome has any surface rust or really stubborn bugs...

But I trust most here are taking too good of care to let the rust form

I learned that way back in my bicycling days...
Always thought it was odd - but works great and doesn't scratch it

Of course everyone knows about using newspapers and windex to do the glass... right?

I take home roll ends (the leftovers after printing) from the newspaper where I work. They are fantastic for cleaning windows and have no ink on them.

Someone recently told me that you should not use a paste wax on a new car or truck for 6 mos to a year. I had never heard that before. Has anyone else ever heard it?

thanks

NJQUAD2BY - Yep I've heard of that also.

I know there is a "Trick of the trade" for getting the smoke smell out of your vents but I can't really test it because I don't let anyone smoke with in 10' of my truck ;-). If someone wanted to try it.. I take no responsibility for this if it backfires.. But some bugbombs that atomize the air can be used if they don't give off the chemical smell. Just turn your truck on.. Recirculate the air and stick the bug bomb in the intake vent. Then close the doors and windows with the truck running for about 15 minutes until the bomb is expired. Then open it up and see what it's like.

I'll find out exactally what brand and how they do it tonight if I can remember. Until then if you wanted to try it.. Let me know because I've always been quite curious about that.

Again I haven't tried this so I don't know if it will mess anything else up or not.

I ahve used SOS pads on crome and rims, works great on bugs and break dust.

They also make that stuff that changes rust back to a metle form or somthing. Just for thouse who have rust, or live in snowy places.

Does anyone have a good trick to clean the white lettering on my sidewalls? I was checkin' out a hottie (yea......that's what it was;) and rubbed against a curb turning my nice white lettering black. Can't seem to really get them clean.

Yep Westley's works GREAT!! use that and a SOS pad if they are REALLY bad. But usually I just spray Westley's on my tires then go back to the first with a brush and scrub it down.. then rinse it off. Looks new.

My biggest problem is getting the wax off the rubber trim and the door handles. I took my truck to get detailed $140 later and I had white marks on my door handles and the truck was dirtier then if I would have cleaned it my self... I'll never think the pros can do a better job at that again.

To keep my truck smelling good I pour a little bit of orange airfreshner on the carpet, it doesn't stain. IT'S CLEAR. As the interior gets hot it makes the orange stuff come back, it smells really good in there.

To clean the white wall use some Knights Spray Nine. That and a stiff brush gets em white as new.

I always mix up some old spice and vanilla scent stuff for making candles, then I pour that into a potpurri bag and hang it from the rear view mirror. Smells great!

To clean bugs off the front of the truck, just use westley's bleach white. Just spray it on, then scrub it with a sponge and soap and water then wash it off. Whatever you do, don't let it dry.

Here's a couple I haven't read yet.

For the wiper blades use formula 2001 leather, vinyl, rubber and plastic shiner. and wipe off black residue, may take 5-10 wipes but they'll work like new. I just gave it a try because my uncle bought the stuff for his leathered equipped 97 jimmy, and the stuff reeks. So I tried it and it's awesome.

interior smell pick up the tree air fresheners and get one vanilla and one new car. it's a nice recipe LOL

for tires, Armoral has a new spray with a cold cap it applies as easy as the regular but lasts longer, (remember gold cap). I don't like to use the jell stuff, it's messy, a pain to apply, too expensive.

for chrome / stainless steel tail pipes, I have this stuff in a little silver or white I don't remember can labeled No.7 and it's only $2.59 U.S.

I use armoral for the inner fender wells, makes it look new again, along with any other plastic trim.

Wheels: formula 2001 wheel cleaner, it says to spray on let foam and rinse off, LOL yea right, it does break up the dust and with a rag it easily wipes off.

I use tuff stuff on the seats and carpet.

I also crawled underneath the truck and took some armoral general cleaner and cleaned up the rear axel / shocks and a little bit under there.

Underneath the hood (engine) I go to the "do it yourself" car washes and turn it on high pressure rince, and WITHOUT squeezing the trigger let the mist rinse away the dirt. If you do this routinely the dust will never get a chance to build up and it'll look nice. Many will argue or say you should cover the wires, but I've been doing this for a few years without any problems.
