Subject: Question about computer mods
IP: Logged

Message:
I see a lot of people touting performance increases and such with computer mods for their automatic daks. I have a 4.7L 2002 Dak w/ a 5 speed manual tranny, would it be worth it to install a jet or ASE chip? I ask because the main thing about these chips are the fine tuning of the shift points which doesn't really apply to me.

Thanx!

In my opinion no, it's not worth it , just a waste of money. All you'll get is increased timing advance, that your computer will eventually correct . because the DC pcm is a learning unit.

Nuckenfuts,

Thats -incorrect-. It is a learning unit, but by altering the signal from the sensors, the computer re-learns to new settings. It does not eventually 'loose' the mod. Thats like saying you shouldn't get an IAT adjuster or relocate the sensor because the computer will relearn back to stock. If that was true, doing -any- mod at all would be a waste of money, since eventually the computer would relearn back to stock.

Moral of the story:

Jet Chips Bad
ASE Chips Good
Hypertech no chip (got e-mail from them today)
Hyperspeed soon to be module
