Subject: Is my truck tough enough
IP: Logged

Message:
I volunteered to rip out some bushes at a friends house. I'll be doing it later today. They're nothing huge, there about 3 ft tall and about 3 ft across.

My next question is, if I begin to spin and I can't pull them out in 2wd can I put it into 4wd or even 4LO? I know your only supposed to in slippery conditions, but I'm not really driving to far, and I don't plan on turning while pulling these bushes out.

I really like using my truck for what it was made for, but at the same time I can't afford to break things. My buddy works for sprint and his company truck is a decked out silverado 2500 hd 4x4 quad cab 6.0L. I know d@mn well he can pull them out, no problem, but this is my chance to play with my truck, and help remind me why I got the 4x4 package. At the same time If I can't pull them out he'll have to with his truck, and I don't want to look like a chump.

here's my window sticker, a little warning, it's a big pic and may take a few seconds to load.

If that's a problem here are some of the specs, 2002 CC 4x4 4.7L 3.92's w/LSD HD service group, towing package, and 5900# GVW

Here's the pic

If you are spinnin in 2wd, put her in 4hi and let her rip. That's why you bought the truck. My girlfriend pulled out bushes about that size with her .7L Rav4 ricer last summer. She was so proud.

You'll not have a problem. Besides the extra traction, 4x4 low is for "maximum pulling power"

So basically you are wondering if your 27 thousand dollar truck will bushes from the ground?

If they don't....perhaps you should have spent the extra money and gotten a Silverado?

LOL...j/k

Be careful you don't ruin your bumper or move your rear axle...

Hey Clevite, let us know how it goes. Our trucks are similar except for engines and limited slip. I may be doing the exact same thing soon with my truck. What are you using to pull on (heavy duty chain, rope, etc?). I have both a REALLY heavy chain or tow rope. I am actually looking forward to seeing what my truck can do, but like you, I don't want to break anything. Good luck!

I have a 97 4x4 5.2 and have pulled down a tree that was about 6 inches thick at the trunk. I dont think that bushes will pose a problem.
