So I replaced my oil the other day...no problems what-so-ever...except the next morning, I went out the check the oil level and the hood won't open.
The hood release has absolutly no tension in it, so I assume the cable snapped somehow. I took off the hood release lever under the steering wheel and it the cable looks fine on that end, so it must be the other end.
Any suggestions on how to get the hood open...or anything to check (maybe it's not the cable)???

Don't freak out, this just happened to me. They pop off all the time.
Get your self a long skinny screwdriver and a flash light, go in from the right of the latch and you can see where the cable was. Place the screwdriver between the latch release and the metal and push the screwdriver to your left. That should pop it open. Once you do it once it becomes real easy for the next time the damn thing pops off.

what year tk do u have? i have heard on other posts, namely on custom style of ppl replacing their grills and therefore taking away hood release. ck there for help if no one replys here.

Mine is a 2002 CC Sport.
I love the damn thing. Had a few minor problems, about a week after I got it, my ignition sensor went and the thing wouldn't start (had to be towed), then my Service 4x4 light came on (went back of again after about 2 miles, not sure what that was about), and now this.
Mostly minor stuff though...other then that..I couldn't be happier.

What you have there is the Microsoft Hood. They state that opening the hood not only reduces innovation but can cause a breach of national security :)

Hi just wanted to say thank you as this happened to me today
and I was able to successfully open the hood with ur post I
was worried I was going to have to pay for a shop to help me. I
usually can fix my vehicle without taking it to a shop but this
was giving me trouble. Thank you again for the help :)
