I spent the better part of Saturday installing the M1 2bbl and the results are in:

IT KICKS ASS NOW!

Bottom end: More Power
Midrange: More Power
Top End: Holy Sh!t

I have heard some people say you give up some low end torque with the M1 but that isn't true. My 01 R/T is now basically a Corvette with a bed on the back.

How did the M1 install go??

Is sounds like it made almost as much difference as the BG Flash.

Maybe you should start selling rides in your RT!!

When are you going to take it to Houston Raceway (Baytown) and get some times??

Well it was a task, but I think it could be done much faster the second time. I just hope there will not be a second time. Grinding the spacers down so the injectors would sit flush was the biggest pain.

The B&G flash still is the king of all modifications, the M1 just makes the truck produce HP much easier. I noticed the RPMs climb much, much faster now and the truck continues to pull in the 4-5600 range.

I tell you what if I could get some guys in this truck they would be running to their computers later on and ordering some more stuff for their own.

My next thing is tires and MSD 6AL, then I should be able to race the truck. Until then my back tires are begging for mercy and not allowing my get any good launches.

R/Truck I guarantee you if you had put your M-1 manifold on before you did your flash you would've claimed the M-1 is the best mod for the money. I still say it is over everything I've done so far...up until the heads and cam. :)

I had my M1 installed before the B&G flash...

Although the butt dyno said the M1 was a very nice modification, my 1/4 and 60' times actually dropped by a tenth (I raced 2 days back to back with the install occuring in the middle). I raced again back at my home track and still had the slower time.

Now I can't wait to see what times I'm running with the B&G in place - the B&G absolutely romps over the M1.

I guess once you get your truck so tweaked out it is hard to feel the new modifications. But I guess after all the praise about the M1 my expectations were pretty high. But I'm in no way not happy with its performance.

I'm not much of a 1/4 time person but it should run low 14s with street tires. The important thing is it's soooooo much fun to drive now.

I ordered my push rods and springs this AM. So it will be at least a week before I can line up the RR install.

I've been out of town over the Memorial Day Weekend and (as of today) I have not received any EMail regarding the Flash group buy. It will be at least next Monday before I will send in the CU.

Til then I need to pump out some work so I can afford all this crap!!

I am jealous of all of you and your flashes. Are there any sites that I can look these up on. I have done a search for both the Mike Leach and B&G and found nothing. I am overseas with my truck so I doubt I would get them but still.... It may be possible to send my computer to them right? The Mopar PCM does not suggest using it while towing. How are these flashes? Are they good for off-roading too?

Matt-

B&G doesn't really advertise this flash, they are preferring to lay low and not draw attention from Dodge. Here is basically what there flash does.

Remove Torque Management
Increase Fuel Cutoff 1500rpm (essentially eliminating it) 7000 rpm
Increase Shift Points from 4800rpm to 5400rpm
Increase slow speed shift points to 2500
Increase Speed Limiter from 115mph to 135mph
Adjust fuel/spark curve for additional power (now requires premium) 36 degree advance
Flash is completely transparent at idle for emissions testing
1.0+ gain in 0-60 times QC 5.9

You can mail them your PCM and they will get it right back to you. There is another group buy on dodgetrucks.org if you want to do it soon.

You can tow with any pcm so long as your engine is not knocking and pinging will doing so.

Just curious, why don't you get the much cheaper mopar PCM?

I probably will end up getting the Mopar PCM after I am done with the other mods. I want to get an M-1 and a new throttle bottle in the next couple of months and go from there. The only thing that will be left after those two are headers, the PCM, and an electric fan. I already have the cat-back in the mail and the 1.7 RR's, MSD ignition, 180 degree thermostat, K&N FIPK, pulleys, and a few others done.

OMG!!

The flash is awesome. I've got almost 150 miles on my truck and it is running great!

What a difference on the low end, mid range and high end!! Sounds like it helps performance throughout the power range? IT DOES

Even my wife was impressed. She did a small burnout in front of the house (and neighbors) by mistake! She's used to the Caravan.

One of the most impressive things about it is that the Torque management has been removed. This allows the truck to easily spin the tires on take off. This of course makes you think you have got tons more power. In reality, this in itself does not create more power. I've read a lot of posts from Dak owners that complain that their trucks won't even burn out from a stop. This is not necessarily due to a lack of power, it is due to computer management.

The timing advance is the primary power enhancing featuring. I have been told that the timing advances as much as 36 degrees at various acceleration points.

The shift point modification to 5400 RPMs allows the engine to wind up tight and breaks the tires loose on second gear shifts. I haven't even held it to the floor to see how it shifts to third, yet.

I have had no problems with pinging or hard starting as reported on other posts.

So if you want to start wearing out your tires and be at risk for getting all kinds of tickets, get the B & G Flash.

You won't be dissapointed.

I still cant believe people fork out for a new throttle body BEFORE they reflash/program their PCMs. PCM should be everybodys first mod.
