Greetings All.
My check engine light comes on if I get a little
heavy on the pedal and then it'll go out on it's
own in a couple days. I did the ignition on/off
thing and got the following codes: 12, 21, 55.
I know that 12 is battery unhooked in last 50
cycles and 55 is end of codes, from dakota-truck.net
I get the following for the code 21:
Upstream oxygen sensor voltage shorted to ground (tested after key off and at start to run) ** or
Left oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range. **
or
Upstream oxygen sensor response slower than minimum required switching frequency or value does not go above .65 volts. **
or
Upstream oxygen sensor heating element circuit malfunction. **
or
Downstream oxygen sensor voltage shorted to ground (tested after key off and at start to run) **
or
Downstream oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range. **
or
Neither rich nor lean condition detected from the downstream oxygen sensor. **
or
Downstream oxygen sensor heating element circuit malfunction. **
I'm assuming that this is my O2 sensor(s) and I
wanted to ask if anyone else here has had this
code and if changing the O2 sensor helped, also
any idea how much one or both might be? (do I
have 2?)
Truck is a '97 Dak CC V6 3.9 with 67,000 miles.
Had my cat replaced about 2 months ago, I'm
wondering if maybe they messed something up.
Thanks for the help.

I got a code 21 on my 94 a while back or maybe it was 51 don't really remember. Anyways my 02 sensor was failing on me causing me to run lean which caused stalling, misfiring, and surging. It cost me $136. part $22.50 labor, but the mechanic said 02 sensors can vary in price from like 50 to 400 bucks, but hopefully this gives you a general idea.

I Have been getting that code on and off for a while now. I first got it a few months ago, I replace both 02 sensors and didnt go away. About a week later, I was planning on taking it in then it went away and stayed that way for a couple of months. Well, now its back... Guess Im off to the Mechanic

Update
Well I replaced my O2 sensor last night and
the code went away, hopefully it'll stay
that way. Cost 60 bucks at Advance Auto.
Thanks for the help.
