What about being pulled out of a LINE of traffic? There were 3 cars in front of me and 2 behind me. The whole line got stopped, the 3 in front of me were waved through, and I was told that the cop up the road had clocked me as speeding with Vascar. When I tried pointing out that I was in a line of traffic and just keeping up with traffic, the officer said that with Vascar, he is only able to clock just one..and I was the one.

3 tickets in 50 yrs. 1st was in my 440 Plymouth GTX. Speeding - $10 fine. The other two were bogus tickets. One was turning around in a parking lot - illegal u-turn?? The other for passing over a double yellow by a cop who saw me do it sitting a mile ahead by looking in his mirror. I certainly can't distinguish lines that far behind me in a mirror, can you? And by the way, i passed legally with a broken line on my side. lol No tickets or pullovers since 1991.

Funny to see this topic today...I was pulled over three times this weekend for no valid cause, the cops were just fishing for drunks. This is wrong. Friday night around midnight, I was pulled over because the cop thought I "showed up in his rearview mirror too quickly"....what the hell is that about?!? Maybe he should check his mirrors more often. On the second stop, the cop thought my licence plate light was out, upon being pulled over, he saw it was working just fine (and that I wasn't drunk) and thought he would do me a favor and just give me a verbal warning....for what, his bad eyesight!?!?!?! Later that same night, I was being followed by a cop and pulled over as I pulled into the alley behind my house. He just wanted to see why I was entering the alley and thought I might be evading. He didn't light me up until after I made the legal turn and got most of the way into my garage...why would he think I was evading him? If I were drunk, he just wanted to make sure he got to me before I took the keys out so he could bust me if wanted. All three stops ended in verbal warnings, and all three cops were TOTAL a--holes. They had NO reason to stop me and NO reason to be jerks. They almost seemed mad that I wasn't drunk. Earlier, there was a cop on this message list that said that cops are just around to protect and serve and don't want to issue tickets...not in Illinois, they harrass and collect$$$ instead. There was no reason for me to be pulled over on any of the three times but I guess I am lucky that they didn't trump something up on me just for kicks. I work in our city's courthouse and see what happens in court daily. The way some of the rookie cops treat people and misuse their power is way out of line. They have been watching way too much COPS on TV. It is not right. The worse case I saw was when a kid got busted on a misdeanmenor for driving through a yellow light...they charged him with drag racing being that he was "racing" against a timed event. Someone my age would have gotten a $55 fine for failure to yield but they socked this kid for $883, 1 year supervision and 100 hours of community service. There was no reason for that...to protect and serve.....more like to bend over and screw.

Three times. Once when I wasn't in law enforcement and it was a lady-cop. No room for explanation or begging, pretty much the two only things she said to me the whole time were 'license and registration pleasse' and after 20 minutes in her car, '72 in a 55, that'll be 70 dollars. Have a nice day.'

2nd time I was in full uniform and gunbelt flyin home at 90mph after a 15 hour shift. Of course I immediately put down all four windows of the truck, put on hazzards and interior lights, and pulled over safely but immediately. It took all of 10 seconds. They walked up, recognized the courtesies, saw the uniform, and walked away with a smile and a 'have a nice night.'

Other time was in Philly, 2 lady cops. Ran a yellow, but it's an absurdly short 2 second yellow that comes after several 5-6 second yellows. Had just done laundry at the parents' house so I had 4 uniforms hanging up in the rear window. Aside from one jittery moment when they froze up as it suddenly occured to them to ask if I had any weapons in the car, which I didn't, it lasted a few minutes and ended with another 'have a nice night.'
