If anyone can answer this question, you are my god by saving me over $250. Also, I believe this will benefit others aswell. On the headlight assembly there are 2 bolts use to adjust the lights. Well, they got stripped =( Anyone know a place I can get replacement bolts? Our dear Mopar doesnt sell the bolts seperately but @ $250 they will sell me the assembly which CONTAIN the bolts... why am I not suprised?

Bob
convenient how they can sell you a whole new assembly $250, but not the bolts for $5-10!!

I thought these screws threaded into plastic. Are you sure the screws are stripped rather than the plastic?

Anyway, if the screws are stripped, get a tap and die kit and rethread them. Hopefully you know someone that has a kit so you can just borrower the one that you need. If not, most auto parts sell real cheap sets ($10-$15).

If the plastic is stripped, heat up the screws real hot and then thread them into the plastic. This will reform the threads.

On a very slightly related topic.... how does one go about removing the headlight assembly? I looked in the owners manual for my '02 and basically I couldnt find half the bolts and screws they were talking about if my life depended on it.

Thanks in advance.

There are three screws that must be removed:

both of the adjusting screws (one on the top of the assembly and one on the side, next to the radiator)

and

a small screw just above the amber lens (towards the outside fender.)

After you take these screws out, the side clear market ligth will come out and the headlight assembly "will pivot" at the bottom. You have to firmly "unplug" the assembly from the bottom hinge point.

Clear as mud?

My screwheads were stripped out before I bought it when they put on the bug deflector. It is the stupid little torx head that is stripped on mine... The dealership couldnt get it aligned so my Driver side light is like on the road 10 ft in front of me while the passenger side is perfect..

reminds me I still need to call the junkyard.

File a slot in it and use a regular screwdriver. There's probably a couple on the floor in the shop at the dealer's. Greedy ba$tards.
