well, the good news is that I have 204k on my 97 v6 dak----so those guys that say domestic doesn't last can eat that!

on freeway, ABS light and BRAKE came on. I went to gas station, looked under truck for fluid loss---saw none. Pulled res. cap and saw fluid was at or below add line---topped up to full. Lights still on. Thanks to this site, I will be buying the ABS sensor and replacing it---crossing my fingers that it works...anyone have the part number?---thanks for the advice about the gear lube and rtv---just bought before this prob. as fluid changed every 100k.

help appreciated..

My light came on two days ago. It was the ABS and Brake light but NO check engine. I did some searches on here about this subject. My truck has 29k on it right now and had the sensor replaced already at 20k (when it was still under warranty). My ABS light and Brake light did not come on immediately, only after a few minutes of driving and the all of a sudden, there they were. I had no noticeable trouble with odd tranny shifts and there was no change in stopping power or reliability. I figured I would try to reset the computer and see what would happen.

I diconnected the neg terminal and turn the key to the ON position for about one minute then reattached the neg terminal. I have driven the truck twice since then and no ABS or brake light has come on. I would suggest trying to reset the ECU before replacing the sensor in the rear dif. Save some time and money.

Does anyone know if this is somehow related to Dakotas with limited slip? Just curious if the LSD might somehow cause the sensor to trip.

Here we go again. After driving the truck a few times, the lights (ABS and BRAKE) are back on again. I'm pretty sure it is the rear sensor but I want to be sure before I start replacing stuff. Does anyone know how to get the diagnostic codes to come on?

I am having same trouble with my 2001 Dodge Dakota
Quad cab 4x4 4.7 ABS and brake light coming on after
I reach 55 mph. I replaced rear speed sensor twice
and still no luck, and when I press brake sometimes
I can hear a ticking sound coming from engine
compartment and pedal pulsates and kinda spungy at
times. Any suggestions on where to start next?

I have the same issue. 130K on my 01 4X4 4.7 Dak. I changed the rear sensor but still no luck. Have you learned anything about this since your original post?
