I know its been posted about once a week but it's just something I have to ask. The 180 T-stat install, is there a site that has pictures of the install on a 2002 RT, or if nothing else VERY detailed directions anywhere? I need part numbers for the Robert Shaw t-stat, and of course if I can't find a Robert Shaw t-stat, is there another brand that won't crap out after 5000kms.

Also the Autolite Plugs, what was the Part number for the ones that run cooler than stock?

Thanks again in advance.

Robert Shaw GT755-180

Don't worry about the directions, its super easy.

2 bolts, remove and clean old gasket and stat, put in new gasket and stat, put bolts back in.

So why on some posts of this topic, does it talk about notching part of the t-stat?

This is from Bernd's site ...

Drain the Radiator by using the drain-plug located on the Driver’s Side bottom of the Radiator. (You need to move a small section of the plastic cover underneath to get to this easily.) Turn the plug Counter Clockwise and pull on it a little…I’ve noticed that some of the Dakota’s don’t drain properly until you pull it out a little bit. Once you’ve drained some fluid out of the radiator (about ¾ Gallon), turn the
plug Clockwise to close it.
(1) Remove the two 13mm Thermostat Bolts (follow the upper radiator hose onto the engine).
(2) Lift the Radiator hose (with the T’Stat housing) up and remove the old thermostat.
(3) Clean up and gasket material on the engine block as well as on the T’Stat housing.
** Installation Tip: There is a tab on the housing that you can grind off which allows for an easier reinstallation **
(4) Install the new Thermostat, put a small layer of Gasket Sealer (Blue RTV Preferred) around the edges, place the gasket on top, and allow to “Tack” for about 5 minutes. (This way the gasket won’t slip too much.)
(5) Put a light layer of Gasket Sealer around the housing and put the two bolts back on and slide it down while using the bolts to line it up. (This is why I removed the tab.)
(6) Torque the bolts to 20Ft.Lbs and add a mixture of 70% Water and 30% Coolant. (While you’re at it, check the coolant reservoir next to the Radiator.)

Hell if I know, it was a very simple exchange on my 01 then only hard part was getting to the old gasket to clean it off. That notching thing must have been in the older models.
