...a starter spins in darkness......
....the engine catches, but doesn't run....
...the starter whines again.....this time for a while.....
...still the engine does not catch.....
....the starter cranks on and on and on....
...finally the motor coughs a bit, then settles into a rough, unsteady idle.....
...the motorist hits the accelerator, the car moves forward uncertainly, lunges a few feet, and then quits.......the starter whines again for a very long time...........as the motor tries to catch......

Is this your rig?
Do you have difficulty starting up your truck in the morning?
Do other motorists pass you on gentle hills?
Have you noticed a drop off in fuel economy?

If so, then now is the time to replace those worn out OEM sparkplugs with first rate Autolite sparkplugs.
Get going with renewed pep and performance that only Autolite can bring you! Enjoy a fast start up at the first light of the ignition switch, feel the surge of new found power your motor has, and marvel at the improvement in fuel economy.

Take a trip to your Autolite dealer today and learn all about Autolite ignition engineered sparkplugs and what they can do for you.......

....or you could continue the story above....the choice is yours.

Does the Dodge dealer carry autolites or do I have to buy the plugs somewhere else and bring them in with the truck? What brand of plugs come with our trucks? Will the dealer try to charge me more for puttting in autolites or will he try to steer me towards putting in their plugs? Thanks

riley, you'll find Autolite sparkplugs at Advance Auto, Autozone, and NAPA.

Champions are the OEM units installed in your truck.

The dealer should not try to steer you towards Champions. IF so, tell him Autolite is the plugs you want installed in your rig.

From bumper to tailight, you are always right with Autolite.

Most of the Napa's I've been to, up here in always sunny Washington State, don't recommend Autolites. Just an FYI...you may not always be right with Autolite.

You're right, I'm sure I know nothing. ; )Just playin' with you, Dodgegopher.

The Scoop on Harlow Wilcox
IP: Logged

Message:
8. Who was Harlow Wilcox?

Harlow Wilcox was the announcer of the show for its entire half-hour run. This included delivering all the commercials and being integrated into the storylines. Wilcox would simply appear in the context of the show and work the sponsor's product into whatever topic or situation was being discussed.

Wilcox was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1900. Before doing Fibber McGee and Molly , he performed in Chatauqua (similar to vaudeville, but more family-oriented) as a baritone singer.

Wilcox's commercial announcements were highly regarded. He worked on other shows, including Suspense and Amos 'n' Andy .

http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.asp?ctr=90353

A few years later, a local music store's newsletter announcing the addition of Harlow Wilcox to its teaching staff piqued my interest in the history of the broadcast industry in Oklahoma. The newsletter credited Wilcox with a Number one hit single and a Grammy nomination, and, since I had never heard of Harlow Wilcox, I wondered if the store's claims were exaggerated. After talking to some of my musician friends about Wilcox, I began to realize there was much about the local music scene of which I knew nothing.

"I learned quickly that many of the older local musicians had gained considerable experience playing on local radio and television shows, and this experience had an enormous effect on their careers. I personally had experienced many disappointments with local radio and television stations in trying to get them to play my music; most had policies against playing any local music. When I compared my experience with that of Wilcox, whose hit record got its start on local radio, I realized how opportunities for local musicians had changed during the previous 20 years and wanted to find out when and why these changes occurred."

http://otrsite.com/logs/logm1036.htm

Harlow was a SLICK operator:
"The Woman's Day poll would also find some radio commercials the listeners didn't mind listening to. Their top pick was the "commercial" for Johnson's Wax on FIBBER McGEE & MOLLY. During the halfway point of the program, announcer Harlow Wilcox came to the McGee home to talk with Fibber and Molly McGee. When he showed up, the listeners knew it was time for some words about Johnson's Wax--- although they didn't how and when Wilcox was going to do this. Much to Fibber's chagrin, "Waxy" (Wilcox's nickname) easily slid Johnson's Wax into the conversation.

The listeners liked this type of commercial because Wilcox presented it while the program continued without interruption. These commercials were also filled with humorous comments. This type of commercial presentation was the best of all worlds for the radio listeners and the sponsor."
