I placed an order yesterday for an SLT Plus Club Cab 4x2 4.7L automatic with Limited Slip.
The few 4.7L CCs I could find on dealer lots here just weren't quite optioned quite like I wanted... so I decided to take a chance on an order. The dealer told me that Dodge is *VERY* close to "closing out" the '02 models, so he couldn't guarantee that the order would be accepted, so we'll see.
BTW... I ordered Bright Silver Metallic with Taupe interior, Bucket Seats (w/ console), Heavy Duty Service Group, Cass/CD player, Sliding Rear Window... plus of course the normal stuff that comes with the SLT Plus package.
Anyway, I'm excited... just hope they accept the order... if not... back to the drawing board I guess!! :-)

Congrats, You will really like the Dak, I have two. 2000 club cab 4x2 now looks like a RT and the 2002 quad cab 4x4 both have the 4.7 and automatic trans. I like the Daks alot.. If you miss out on the 02 then resubmit for the 03 model..

My uncle works for GM at one of their Silverado plants and he is slated to keep cranking out 02's until mid-July and then they get a 2 week vacation while the factory is retooled to the 2003 specs. Not sure how backed up the Warren, MI Truck Plant (where they build our Daks) is, but hopefully you can get in just under the wire! Good luck with you Dakota, you will love it!

JohhnyO, Where are you from? I just attempted to order on Friday and the dealer said that Dodge had closed orders last week. I ended up getting a dealer transfer from two states away. Had everything I wanted plus extras but was missing the tow and they threw it in.

Hey Johnny, one thing you may try is to call the truck plant up in Warren, MI directly and see if they are still taking orders. Get the number from your dealer and then call up and just ask. I have heard from other guys on these boards that they are very friendly and more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Just a thought, good luck!

Just heard from the dealer... my Dak order has been accepted (but not yet scheduled)... according to the dealer the cut off for ordering was 5/13 (I got mine in on 5/10).
He did say that he wouldn't call it "100% guaranteed" until he's seen that it has actually been scheduled for the production line... but things are lookin' good! :-)

JohnnyO, I was back in PHX over Christmas with family and visited a few dealers, but since I'm Military, its cheeper to buy here in VA were I'm stationed at and save on taxes and registration.
Congrats on getting your order in, looks like they either cut off ordering for the east coast earlier than the west coast or the dealer lied to me. Hmm, wonder which one?
Anyhow, I picked up my new 02 CC Sport Plus this evening and I have figured that I paid $934 over invoice, (Dealer got no holdback because it was a transfer, threw in a tow package and had to pay to have it shipped down here) + I'm driving it now and grinning ear to ear.
I also heard there is a 800 number you can call and get the status of your order 1-800-992-1977 and then enter # 1-2-5-2 and ask for status and give your VON. I know that when I tried it out here in VA it said the number wasn't accesable from my area code. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Thanks for that 800 number... I'll have to give that a try.
Who knows with the ordering... perhaps they do close down ordering by region or something similar. Oh well... glad you got yours and like it. Ordering wasn't my first choice, I'm generally not that patient... but I just couldn't find exactly what I wanted on any local lots (even had a couple different dealers do a "locate" in the system to see if there were any silver (or white) SLT+ 4.7/auto with LSD and dual cassette/CD... just weren't any at the moment... so I decided to go for the order. I sure hope nothing de-rails it now. :-) And that it arrives sooner rather than later!

I just want to warn you to look over the entire tuck, for any kind of defaults, mine has a couple spots where dirt had actually gotten under the clearcoat while applying. the dealer made note and said if it begins to rust or anything let him know and he'll take care of it for me.
and remember unless you have already put out money for it, if you aren't 100% satisfied, walk away, don't take their BS.
Thankfully my order wasn't too bad, but I've heard some stories.
