I finaly got around to building a true Z-tube for my truck. Here are a couple of pics.
Notice in this one I relocated the heater hoses to around the rear side of the intake.

Nice, where did you get the pipe? I want to get an intake, but I am going to Bernd and Tom's turbo when they bring it out so I don't want to spend a lot of money on a z-tube. You gotta hook me up with one of those pipes, I am somewhat limited here in Montana..

I just went down to the local exhaust shop and they had them on hand. If you are using the stock TB then ask for 3.5" mandrel bent pieces. The only reson I went with 4" is because I plan on having a 72mm TB. I used 2 90° pipes and welded them together. I think I will paint it some time. Didn't have time today.
The price was very resonable. The 2 peices of pipe were $55 a piece and the filter was $50. That is only about $160 Cnd I spent. Not bad considering the IP 4" Z-tube is 600+ Cnd.

That's where most people would get one, but no one in my town or the surrounding area has a mandrel bender -- or any pre-fab pieces for that matter.
Heh, I also wanted to go to a 72mm -- prolly in another week or two. Would you be willing to buy those pieces for me and ship them if I paid for it, no joke. ???
I also do not have access to a welder, and it appears you do. To get anything welded would cost me even more money. Did you do it, or did y0ou have someone do it for you??

Doh! My bad, I see the hood now. I still think I may start taking mine off when I work under there for long periods of time. All of these car and truck shows on TV do that for the camera and it looks a lot easier. Since I don't have an underhood light or anything it probably wouldn't be a big deal at all.
Also, did you notice anything in the way of power/efficiency/torque increases with the new equipment CW?

xplit: That would be a costly way to do things. The pieces I have weigh quite a bit guessing the steel pipe weighs 5 LBS and is very bulky. Would cost a fortune to get across the border. I highly suggest trying to find it somewhere around you or online. I did the welding not pretty but air tight.
I didn't notice any improvment because I basically had a Z-tube before with flexible heating pipe off of the first bend. It had separated so I decided to do it properly.
