I'm sorry about that, I missed it the first time.

Dodge put the new valve body in (they are using a new model one to replace the defective ones) and that made the difference. I'm still under warranty so I didn't bother doing it myself.

Full Spectrum Spanking

I've enjoyed way too many to list them all. I generally don't street race. I assume that almost every other car on the street is an unmarked police car. If I see traffic, I don't run it. I never race where there are any intersecting roads and the only time the speeds get into the triple digits is if it's on the freeway or something from a 50 or 60 mph roll to start with, and then it's only if there are NO cars in front of us for a very long way. I usually just like my racing at the track. But there are times.... ;>)

OK, enough of the disclaimers...

I just LOVE blowing by cocky Mustang GT and Cobra guys, they just get pissed and turn off.
Very poor sports.

The F-Body guys are usually totally suprised and pretty cool about thumbs up. Some of them actually look like they enjoyed the race regardless of the outcome.
They obviously like to race.

The 'Vette guys absolutely hate it when they get spanked by a lowly pickup and won't look over or even acknowledge that they got out-run at all.
Usually they act like anything else on the road isn't worthy of their interest.

The WRX guys are usually in shock if you dust them from a stop. They just bought their new toy and the dealer told them that it's the quickest thing on the road. They ALWAYS want to run again and find it incredible that a big old pickup would beat them at all.
I just love the look of shock and dismay! hahaha

The Lightning guys almost always want you to pull over..... they want to see why they got beat and so far have been very cool guys to BS with - well most of them anyway.
They are usually cool truck guys also.

Older Muscle Car guys are usually just out for a cruise and don't generally race. If they do want to race - they probably have something to back it up! They have a hard time believing it when a pickup goes past them! At the track they will come over and ask all kinds of questions. Since I'm an old-school hot-rodder myself, we'll spend hours bench racing in the staging lanes. They are also very cool guys to hang with (prolly cause they're old farts like me).

The Import/Ricer crowd? Not all imports are Ricers, not all Ricers are imports..... the same idiots are quite capable of ruining american cars also! hahaha I act like I'm a 'Vette guy to them. I don't even consider them at all. Generally they are loose cannons that will race anywhere under any circumstances and most likely will wreck or cause a wreck just to do one of their patented fly-bys. I've talked to some cool import guys at car shows... they were knowledgable and polite. Most likely the guys I talked to wouldn't pull up next to a truck and rev on them anyway. I don't race Ricers. I don't even trust driving next to them at the speed limit! The last thing I'm going to do is encourage them to try and impress me. Since I don't care what they think of me, I certainly won't try and impress them.

Anybody with a big wing, fart can and all those stickers is an idiot if you ask me.
Ricers Suck!

I have an 01 too, yes if its shifting wrong then they have to fix it under warranty. Your dealer should be familier with this problem, I would say at least 25% of the 01 R/ts are having the same problem and getting it fixed. Of course they may try to say its a module or your aftermarket parts but most will fix them right off the bat.

Well I took my truck into the dealer and he was tryin to tell me it was my TV Cable that I had adjusted that was makin it run weird. Well he hooked it up to the little computer and zeroed it back to normal...well what'd ya know, come to find out it had been the same problem as other dakota guys have been experiencing. It couldn't decide whether to shift from 1st to 2nd at mild throttle. So the new valvebody will go in soon! :)

Some of you sound like you're having fun, but others, ESPECIALLY DUNER, I mean come on. Show some numbers that prove you are hittin' 60 in 5 sec. or less and I might buy into your fantasy world. Also, is it really impressive to beat a sports car that may have cost a few grand more, is completely warranteed, and drives and handles like a dream, with a vehicle that's basically just a shell of the actual thing stuffed with aftermarket parts that could have been put in anything with probably better results? This thread is about Daks, and how they outperform other cars based on being a superior design from the factory, that may respond well to a few enhancements, or through driver skill. So get over yourself!

Gee, Sorry proovit..... didn't mean to get you all upset.

Show you some numbers?
Well the best numbers I have so far are 12.76 @ 107.77 mph with a 1.88 second 60' time. I've gotten better numbers than that on a Gtech with more boost dialed in, but I don't have a timeslip to back it up.... so I'll stick to the slower 12.76 time. I wouldn't quite call it a fantasy world... but I'm enjoying it all the same.

As far as a vehicle that's basically just a shell of the actual thing?
It's my daily driver. I wouldn't think of doing anything to it that would take away any of it's creature comforts or capabilities. I still tow my trailer full of sand toys to the dunes and haul junk to the dump on weekends... with the stereo blasting and the AC on high. I still take the kids to school every morning in it as well as customers to lunch. I use it to haul display jobs and pallets of printed materials to customers. I use it to tow race cars to the track.... It's still a truck and I use it as a truck. It doesn't quite handle like a dream - it's a truck. I wouldn't say it's impressive to outrun a sports car that cost a few grand more.... I've been spanked by cars that probably only cost 4 or 5 grand. There's always somebody that's quicker.... no big deal. What more could I expect from a truck.

It's stuffed with aftermarket parts that could be put in anything with probably better results?
Absolutely true! The truck weighs 4225 lbs. If I didn't still want a truck, the drivetrain in something lighter and smaller would certainly go much quicker..... but I WANT a truck. I just enjoy making IMPROVEMENTS.

This thread is about Daks and how they outperform other cars based on being a superior design from the factory, and that respond well to a few enhancements?
Again True! I doubt I would have a 12-second Ranger or S10 if I added a turbo to either of them. I happen to love my Dakota. Is there something wrong with my "enhancements"? It goes faster, gets better fuel mileage, looks and handles better now than when I bought it. I really like to tinker with my ride. Is that bad?

I never mentioned anything about driver skill.... What exactly does that mean and I should get over myself? I've been playing with cars for a very long time. I MIGHT have some skills - thanks for noticing!

I'm not quite sure what you are upset about, but please explain it to me. What kind of vehicle do you drive? Did one of my characterizations above strike a little too close to home? Hey, it's just my opinion. Mine's not any better or worse than anybody else's. All I did was report my experiences. Is that not what the thread is about?

proovit - no hard feelings..... I just figured that most people would enjoy hearing about what kind of vehicles they could spank if they had more power. I guess it would be more or less just a cheap plug for the turbo kits? ;>) I'm sorry if I got carried away with my "vehicle based, driver profile/stereotypes". hehehe It would be interesting to see if others had similar views or experiences.
