Hi,

I am a new Dakota owner (had my 99 CC just over a month now) and some slime tried to break into my truck last night.

I am doing all the normal stuff to get it repaired but my question is this. They tried to get in on the passenger side by either trying to bend the metal around the door handle and/or punching a hole around the handle.

Is there a security product that anyone knows of that I could install that would help prevent this?

I was thinking that there might be a metal plate or something like that but wouldn't have a clue as to where to start to source something like that out.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

KRG

I would go w/ an alarm first. If some one really wants your truck they are gonna get it but I think a good alarm Keeps most Crooks away. I paid $320 for mine (also had them install power locks)

When theey stole my truck they drove it somewhere stripped out all the valuables from the cab and theen went joyriding around town.

Cheapest way to protect your truck from break in is to keep the interior tidy and empty, don't use your truck to house valuables. If they can drive the whole thing to a place where they can strip all the fun stuff out of it, it will be more likely to be stolen than if they have to work on it where you park it. So I have a "D-Vice" (like a club but it fits around the spokes of your steering wheel making it harder to remove)

I had thought of all sorts of elaborate ignition killing schemes but I realized that they'd keep jimmying the door before theey realized the truck couldn't be driven so I went with the club thing. Hasn't been stolen since. Sad part is since it was stolen I don't even like to park it at shows without the club on it. I know it looks stupid but I like my truck too much.

Middy.

That is the crazy thing...

My interior is totally bare... The CD comes out as soon as I park the truck anywhere, there is nothing else even lying around in the cab... that is what baffled me when they tried to break in.

Fortunately they didn't actually steal the truck or even get into it by the looks of it (still waiting for the police and insurance to contact me).

I had an alarm in my previous car and it was ok (still had a break-in). I am looking at a MUCH more expsensive alarm setup for the Dak and of course the club.

Thanks for the support!

KRG
