Message:
My R/T wheels should be here today... My question is when I put them on (with tires) will they tuck inside the wheel well? I need to know, so I know what size tires will fit..
Thanks, Drew

The wheels will fit, there is a small problem though the dust caps on the front spindles will hit the center cap all i did was grind off about a 1/8 inch of the spindle and slowly tap the dust cover flat as i rotated the tire and now the center cap fits perfectly some people state that the upper control arm might need to be grinded down to but i didnt run into that problem with mine as for tires 255/50/17 will work perfect

QuickRacing I just bought a set of Dunlop Rovers GTX from the Tirerack and paid 569 delivered they are 255/55/17 and the upper control arm does need to be grinded a little took about 30 minutes to do both sides. TRUST ME your gonna love the way the truck looks and Handles. I also have the R/T wheels not like TOM Slicks Truck he has Aftermarket wheels. Hopefully you didnt lower the front too much as for the 255/55/17 or the 255/50/17 probally wont fit. The only lowering i did to mine was the in the rear. Hopefully this helps.

Well, The front end is lowered 2"? (I think?) It's really going to suck if I buy tires and they don't fit!!! I'm geting 255/50/17 Brigestones, Are these good tires? The list for 4 new tires is $594. and I'm getting them for $200.!! It pays to know the right people! I'll let you know if they fit! Do you think it's too low?

Cool, Good luck. Remember to grind the spindle and the upper control arm before you mount the wheels up, its really easy to do

Absolutely sure!

My rims were made for the Gen 3 Dakotas and Durangos, and they fit perfectly on my Dakota.

Remember, 1Flamed92Dak's Dakota is a 92 model... they have been a few changes since then...

What part of the combo was too big? I assume it was the big 255/50 tires. I have a 95 Sport lowered 2/3, soon to be 4/5, and wanted to know if I could run an R/T wheel. But I'm having second thoughts because of the 9" width. Something that wide won't tuck without crazy camber.

Well Dave, You've got your work cut out for ya! You are right the tires are too big! In your case, When you go even lower, the tires might rub on the tops of the fenders.. They clear the top of the fenders now by 2in. and mines lowered 2/4!
My problem is on the rear part of the fender well. When I turn, the tires rub.. You will have this problem too. But what I'm thinking.... I've got so much money already invested, why not punch the fender well in!? "They'll fit then!!" Is that possible? (with out making it look like hell?)
Or better yet.. does anyone make custom wheels for the Dakotas the are NOT off set? I'd really like my tires to tuck in the wheel well!
Sorry for the long post, but I need ideas! Or someone to buy my idea out! :)

I think that I will encounter clearance problems with the height of my tires once I drop it a couple of more inches. So I figured I would do what the other mini truckers do when they encounter this problem when a truck gets bagged. Cut out the fender well. I might make some new custom ones from sheetmetal but I have a 2.5 so there is plenty of room under my hood. I can actually stand flat on the ground between my radiator and motor.

I like some idea on how hard it's going to be!
Thanks

before makin me measure tommorow...do you think that the rim would tuck? I seriously doubt I could tuck the 9" wide r/t wheel. Even if I put on some smaller tires, maybe a 225 at most. I'll prolly be better off gettin some other wheels...

argh! lol

But I've got alot of cash invested in these, What I would really like, is to find a aftermarket wheel the is NOT off set! Just like the factory ones. They'll tuck in. Any ideas?

Ok, I have a 92 CC and I'm curious about the "Accessory" R/T rims. People say they'll fit but I had a fair amount of problems with the "normal" GenIII rims I have now(5 spoke). The rims themselves had to be grinded and with 235/75/R15s I have rubbing on turns still. And I can't "cut" my well out because it's rubbing the frame. Should I just give up?
