You have to forgive me because I am just adding fuel to the fire, but during world war II all anti submarine planes were equiped with lights that were on during the day. the lights acted as camoflage against a bright sky enabling the planes to sneak up on subs before they could submerge. Don't know if the same thing could or has happened with cars, on bright days but it is interesting to think about.

for what is worth, theDRL bulbs in the new chevy trucks are a $1.79 to $3.99 a PAIR of 3157 standard tail light bulbs. i don't think GM is trying to get rich off the light bulbs.anyway, as far as the DRL issue is concerned, My 96 DAKOTA hAS NO DRL'S.but, I personally drive with my lights on all the time.and i still have people pull out in frount of me all the time! at least most of the time they stop when they finally look my way.I like DRL's but i do agree, it would be nice to have the choice.

In my opinion I think Chevy needs to totally re-think their lighting issues. The DRLS might be alright but if they burn out every two months(and I've seen trucks with paper plates(30-days) with burnouts then if you own the truck for 10 years that's $240 you'll spend on useless light. At today's gas prices in IN that's 200 gallons of fuel. So which would you rather have 250 bucks in your pocket or a set of lights that make blackouts pointless. And I'm not going to even get into their fog lights.
