Subject: My opinion on Dodge vs. Chevy
IP: Logged

Message:
I would like to see what kind of discussion this brings. I am getting rid of my S-10 after 124,000 hard miles, and I have come to some comparisons on what I like best/worst about each truck:

Build Quality Winner: Dodge. I can't tell you how hard it was to replace the rear panels of my extended cab since they fit so snug. Virtually no rattles in the truck. Chevy look like they used the cheapest materials, and two high schoolers put it together.

Engines: Dodge. I get 18 mpg with my 4.7 auto in a much heavier truck. I got 19-20 with my 4.3L S-10. What a joke with that 4.3. And to get any acceleration I had to mash it to the floor. Not so with the Dodge. It sh!ts and g!ts.

Tranny: Not sure. I like the 45RFE so far, though a shift kit is not in the cards for a while(damn computers). Had my tranny replaced in my S-10 at 70K(auto also), due to clutch slippage. I like how the 45RFE seems to adapt and at full throttle rips the shifts.

Refinement: Chevy(so far). I love the rack and pinion steering in the Dodge. Chevy had the recirculating-ball steering(no off center feel). The Dodge is responsive as f!ck. This ball joint thing on the Dodges, rotors, steering rack issues I'm having. I dunno. Time will tell, but I hear a lot of clunks out of this thing at 21K miles. I beat the p!ss out of the Chevy for over 100K and never heard some of these noises.

Comfort: Dodge easy. The S-10 was like sitting on a park bench. I'm 250 and I have no issues with the Dodge seating and room.

Interior: Again Dodge, but barely. Just looks a bit better to me, more "expensive" looking. My interior in the Chevy creaked too much. Dodge coulda hid the power outlets a bit better and had some deeper cupholders. Good fit on the Dodge.

Last, Style: I am still thinking. The dodge definitely looks "meaner", but I like the look of the S-10 The mirrors on the Dodge gotta go in favor of the Street Scene mirrors.

So that's it. Straight from a guy who's owned em both, not some brand loyal jackass.

Any input is appreciated, since I know there's always bad trucks in every brand.

Later
Chris
