RECON Remanufactured Engines--Does anyone have any experience with this company? I have just put a Recon 360 in my truck after blowing up my last one. The new engine didn't seem to be balanced very well to start with, then it dropped a valve after 40 miles.

The SOB's fought me tooth and nail on the warranty, and I bought the extended warranty. They wanted to repair the head and let that be all.

They finally agreed to send another engine, and will only give $400 towards the engine swap. It is around $700 bucks worth of labor in my town on average.

They finally gave in when I threatened to rent a billboard across from the local supplier saying they do not stand buy the warranty(It had a rent me sign on it at the time)!

I sure hope the next one is better!!!!!

Anyone else dealt with them?

Thanks,

Wayne

I got my first one from advance auto......oil pump went out after 600 miles. My mechanic was told by recon to put another oil pump on, it didn't work. after fighting withthem for quite some time they finally sent another engine, after installed would not run, sent back (wrong cam shaft in engine) finally got a 3rd engine. they will oly pay 500 on the first engine and are trying to give me only 500 on the second one. My mechanic charged around 1000.00 for each engine. I am in the process of fighting with them to get them to pay for all of the labor cost...it is not my fault that they don't know how to build engines...would NEVER use them again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to work at Advance and sold a few of these, poor poor people. It appeared to me that Recon, took these engines down too much. Oil pump failure was common, due to clearance issues. And forgetta bout it if you have problems. They, Recon, is notorious for giving nothing but a hassle when trying to return for warranty. One couple in particular comes to mind. Two engines, an internal Recon investigation, and a year later, they had to threaten with litigation to finally get a resolve, a new engine direct from Dodge. Good luck

here is a good one bought a rebuilt from Recon in november 2003 did not install engine until december 2004.Prime pump but CANNOT get oil up. contacted the Advance auto with the issue and RECON but they say nothing is wrong with the motor. Informed them that there is not 1 mile on the motor.I was informed since i was 6 DAYS out of warranty nothing they could do. Yet I said BS...The oil pump will only push the oil out of my oil filter. Called this company for a few days only get rude customer service knuckle heads.Yet i stuck with a motor that won't push oil through the block and $1500+. Will take this further yet I see I'm not the only one who had issues with their motors.
