I sent Amsoil tech line a question. I asked them to tell me specificly what chemical differences there are between their origanal synthetic oil and the series 2000. They totaly failed to answere my question and they gave me some marketing dripple. This is what I hate about some companies. You ask a question and they will not give you a clear answere. I asked what they changed in the 2000 formula as compared to the origanal formula to increase it's service life from 25,000 to 35,000 miles. You would think that their tech line would be staffed by people that know their products.I then asked them what their opion was on polyo-ester base stocks. They told me that they would not take issue with other company's base stock's. I never mention another company. I asked what they thought(profesional opion)of polyo-ester base stock's. I had considered trying their products but after this I think I will stay with company's that will talk with me and not talk down to me!!!!!

In response to the questions regarding
AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Oil...

First and foremost were the race-proven results along with factory testing, coupled with the fact that all oils (even synthetics) have additives which are constantly being monitored and adjusted. These additives prevent oxidation, seal swelling, and foaming to name a few.

Tests on the Series 2000 were shown to prove:

HIGH TEMPERATURE PROTECTION

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil protects in high temperatures better than do the high-viscosity conventional and synthetic oils tested. Even after extended service in the engine, Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil maintains its ability to protect in high temperatures.

LOW TEMPERATURE PROTECTION

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil is specially formulated for superior cold temperature engine protection. Series 2000 retains excellent fluidity in extremely low temperatures, so it flows quickly and reliably to allow easy starting and immediate lubricating protection.

HEAT STABILITY

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil is highly resistant to volatility. For example, in heat that causes conventional motor oils to lose as much as 25 percent of their mass, AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil loses less than ten percent.

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil's resistance to volatility keeps oil consumption extremely low and, more importantly, keeps the engine thoroughly lubricated and protected. Its resistance to volatility also helps keep fuel efficiency high and emissions low.

CLEAN ENGINE FORMULA

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil remains free of sludge, varnish and other by-products of high temperature degradation. With no deposits to foul them, engines stay cleaner longer for top performance and efficiency and maximum service life.

SHEAR STABILITY

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil is highly shear-resistant. With AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil's excellent viscosity retention, the protection that goes into the engine is the protection that stays in the engine, even over an extended course of severe service.

Thank you and please do not hesitate to ask questions.

Sandman was asking the difference between the two lines of AMSOIL products.

Looks like he got the same answer.

AMSOIL's marketing is their own worst enemy. I'm sure they have a competitive product, But the overblown marketing hype and AMWAY sales techniques are a big turn off.

I'll stick with Mobil 1/Castrol/Valvoline Synthetics. They may not be the best synthetics but they are great products, plenty good enough for a street machine, and I can buy it where I shop.

As we all know from reading the literature and to the best of my knowledge - the Series 2000 incorporates a special synthetic base stock blend, and advanced additive package which was developed for racing.
This would give it a different formulation than the original but I don't know the "specific chemical differences".

A call has been placed to tech support at Corporate headquarters to ask if they will "tell me specificly what chemical differences there are between their origanal synthetic oil and the series 2000".

As with all Corporations some technology information is proprietary. If we really want to know we can check with the U.S. Patent Office.

Headquarters has promised me a response within 5 business days. I will post again at that time.
