I don't believe it!!! After 12 long weeks my Dak has finally arrived and I pick it up tomorrow. The dealer is throwing is some extra options and lowering the price a bit, after I threatend to leave and haggled him about how long I had to wait. Anyway, I just wanted some tips on what problems I should look for before taking ownwership. I've heard some of you guys complaining about a poor paint job, but what else should I be looking for?

Let me be the 1st to congratulate you, Got Dak? Now, keeping in mind that your particular dealer seems to have some issues, I recommend you check EVERYTHING. I mean it. Check to make sure each and every option you ordered is on the sticker before you take delivery. Check to make sure the spare tire is a full-size. And yes, give the truck a good walk-around, in the daylight, and look for scratches, dents, etc.

Did you get a build sheet when you ordered the truck? I would compare that to both the window sticker and also check to make sure everything is on the truck that is supposed to be. Other than that.... ENJOY!

Agree with the others...check everything, including fluid levels.
Mine had two problems when I took delivery. The brake reservoir was low, so they topped it off. No brake problems since. Second problem took me about a week to notice, after I was into my move from California to Florida. Note: I bought the truck in a very cool climate in June 2000 and the cross country drive was the truck's first exposure to hot weather. Day one of my cross country trip I pull into Las Vegas at 5PM and it's over 100 degrees. Soon as I get off the highway, the temp needle moves fast towards the red zone and the AC is pumping warm moist air. Back on the highway, it's fine. Same thing all the way across country...highway it's fine, but as soon as I pull off the truck runs very hot and the AC pumps warm air. I took it to a dealer here in Tampa when I arrived a few days later. After the first day of troubleshooting the dealer tells me that he may have to replace the entire AC system including a bunch of stuff behind the dash and the truck's main wiring harness, but he wants to keep checking. At the end of day two the dealer calls and says that the truck is fixed and ready. I went to the dealer, got in, and sure enough, the AC is cool and so is the engine. I ask the service manager what the problem was. He sheepishly looks at the ground and tells me that the electric radiator fan was unplugged.

Congrats!
I didn't notice until I got my truck home that the tape deck didn't work. The dealership replaced it right away.
