I've read that i can easily fit 31x10.5s under a 2001 4x4 quad cab. but can i mount the 31x10.5 on the 15x7 wheels or do i need to get on ebay and buy a set of the 16x8???

are the 15x8s the same thing as the 16x8s for the 2001? i saw a couple on ebay that looked similar to the 16x8 but it said they were 15x8

Yes you can mount the 31 x 10.5's on your stock rims. I did that from the time I got my truck till I had to buy new tires and upgraded my rims then. I never really had a problem with rubbing except when I hit a big dip.
