Just bought a 2002 Dakota and was looking for input on pros and cons of automatic car washes vs hand washing.
Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

DC has redefined "soft paint", everyone has the same problem with Dakota's scratchin very easily. The darker the color the more obvious the scratches that look like chalk lines. If you have use a "drive thru", only use the touchless.

Handwash is always better given that you use the right materials and patience.

I really wish we could get a recall on the paint. I have never seen paint this thin! It's not soft, it's just thin! There aren't that many coats. I don't know why, mercedes have awesome paint! The rest of dc's stuff seems to be fine, how come we got the shaft? There is no excuse for vehicles of this decade having inferior paint!

Quadman lets gang up on DC somehow. I swear my Patriot Blue truck gets scratches overnight all by itself in a climate controled carpeted garage. Yes, carpeted. Even when I took delivery I had them buff it twice before I opened my wallet. There is no excuse..!

Oh he77! If you had them buff it then your down to only one coat left! I swear I can almost sit and watch it scratch all on it's own. I have garnett so you can only imagine how that stands up to everyday use. I'm afraid when bug season comes around I'll just have to park it till winter comes again! All those bugs hitting the front and all that will be left is primer!

Yea, those soft squishy bugs might be like rocks to our dodge paint. I'm going to talk to the salesman (a friend) who sold me my truck and see if there have been many customers come back with paint problems on the newer trucks.
