Subject: Console cup holder
IP: Logged

Message:
My 01 Dakota center console (bucket seats)
has a great big round rubber compartment in
it that I use to hold whatever I'm drinking. I
don't know if this is the intended use but it
works for me (back-up drinks reside in the cup
holder).
I would like to know if this rubber compartment
can be removed from the console. There was
a time when I would just pull and pull but I got
tired of saying "whoops. . . uh oh".
Thanks
Jim

Yes it does come out. You have to give it a good tug. When you go to put it back in there is a tit(cool word) that has to be inserted back into the hole(cool phrase) in the bottom of the console.

NO. NO. NO. As George Carlin said in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, "You're doing it all wrong!" You don't go running around trying to stick the tit in the hole!! *sheesh*

LMAO 8^)

Take the rubber thing out and you can fit a 2-Liter of

right in the opening- gets me a block or two before I need to stop for more! LOL

Those cup holders are virtually worthless if you have a 5-spd. That's the only complaint I have about my Dakota. Either the drinks are too big or too small. Too big and the shifter smashes into them or they tip over when going around corners. Too small and they flopping around. To make them better I think they'd need to be relocated and outfitted to adjust automatically to the size of whatever you're putting in them.

Yeah, I never thought of that, must be a pain in the a$$. Probably have to drive it like an old duplex Mack one hand shifting, one hand through the steering wheel moving your drink to a different holder spot while running through the gears, LOL!

Hehehe yeah. City driving is a real pain after making a stop at a fast food joint and getting a burger and a drink. I have a new rule for drinking anything in my truck now. If it doesn't come in a bottle, it's not going in my truck.
