Is it fairly easy to replace the rear diff. fluid yourself? If so, please explain the process to me. Thanks.

its real easy. you just pull off the cover, suck the rest out with some sort of suction (sp?) device, (i used a turkey bastor) and put RTV sealent on the cover, bolt it back on, and pour the diff fluid back into the rearend

How much friction modifier goes into the "punkin'" when you have an LSD? I just went 30,000 on my '01 Quad and am doing the service myself.

The dealer's service manager wasn't even aware of the need for the stuff in the LSD rear end. That's when I figured it was safer to take care of it myself.

One is enouph probably but I always put in two because they sometimes jerk when turning when they don't have enouph.

Guys, I hate RTV on the rear end unless I am working from a lift! It is easy to smear the bead if you are working on your back! I found that Felpro makes a nice gasket for the 9.25" rear end. It was not listed under my year (2001) so I had them check older fullsize 1/2 ton Ram's. They found one and I looked at it to confirm it was right. The box has the part number and years it was used. If I remember I will go out to my Dads place and get the info off the box. I also found an excellent product I like better then RTV! It is called "The Right Stuff" it cure and is ready to be put back into service in five minute if I remember right. It is black and matches the product used by the factory on the newer transmissions. It has a part number and is in use by the domestic big three.
